Nissan has introduced the 2027 Murano with a new Dark Armor trim, adding a blacked-out appearance to its two-row midsize SUV lineup after the model received an all-new generation for the 2025 model year. The new trim sits between the SL and Platinum models, while the previous SV trim has been discontinued.

New Nissan Murano Dark Armor

The 2027 Nissan Murano Dark Armor builds on the SUV’s futuristic styling with gloss black 21-inch wheels, sporty bumpers and lower side moldings. Buyers can choose from six exterior color combinations: Gun Metallic, Super Black, Scarlet Ember, Everest White, Boulder Gray with a Super Black roof, or Everest White with a Super Black roof.

The Dark Armor also comes generously equipped with features including a panoramic moonroof, Prima-Tex upholstery, heated front seats and steering wheel, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, an HD surround-view monitor, a 10-speaker Bose sound system and a 12.3-inch touchscreen display.

Inside, Graphite is the only available color for the Dark Armor trim.

2027 Nissan Murano Pricing

The 2027 Nissan Murano starts at $43,990 for the SL, reflecting the discontinuation of the previous SV trim. That starting price is $2,320 higher than the older SV, but the 2027 Murano SL is $2,770 cheaper than the equivalent 2026 trim.

The new Dark Armor is priced at $46,990, while the range-topping Platinum costs $49,790.

Every trim continues to use Nissan’s 2.0-liter four-cylinder VC-Turbo engine, producing 241 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. A nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive are standard across the lineup.

The Murano remains refined and composed, although turbo lag is noticeable and the automatic transmission can occasionally hesitate.

Murano Platinum Brings Near-Luxury Features

The Platinum trim adds a stronger focus on luxury with quilted semi-aniline leather seats, ventilated and massaging front seats, and heated rear seats. Available ProPilot Assist 2.1 allows drivers to take their hands off the steering wheel on the highway.

2027 Nissan Murano Rivals

The Murano is aimed less at ruggedness and more at buyers seeking refinement and quality from a two-row crossover. The Mazda CX-70 and Toyota Crown Signia are comparable alternatives.

The Mazda CX-70 is described as very stylish and starts at $42,750 for the 2026 model year. It offers a more engaging driving experience with a well-tuned chassis and a standard 3.3-liter twin-turbo six-pot producing 280 hp. A 340-hp version of the engine is also available, while the interior is beautifully finished.

The Toyota Crown Signia takes a different approach, offering a Lexus-like appeal through premium finishes and a soft ride. It starts at $44,690 and emphasizes efficiency over performance with its hybrid powertrain. The Crown Signia gets up to 38 mpg combined and produces 240 hp, making it roughly as quick as the Nissan while being far more efficient.

2027 Murano Brings Modest Changes

The 2027 Nissan Murano remains an impressive option, but it does not comprehensively outperform its rivals in any particular area. With modest changes for the new model year, the updated Murano may not go far enough to separate itself from the competition.
