Jeep Recall Covers Nearly 202,000 SUVs Over TPMS Glitch

Jeep is recalling nearly 202,000 SUVs in the U.S. because a software glitch can prevent the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) from alerting drivers when tire pressure is too low.

Which Jeep Models Are Affected?

The recall covers several Jeep nameplates, with the 2024-2026 Grand Cherokee accounting for the largest share at 113,647 vehicles.

The 2024-2026 Grand Cherokee L follows with 57,456 vehicles, while the 2024-2025 Wagoneer accounts for another 16,456. Other affected models include the Wagoneer L, Grand Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer L, Grand Cherokee plug-in hybrid, as well as a small number of 2026 Cherokee and Grand Wagoneer L PHEV models.

Software Glitch Can Disable Tire Pressure Alerts

According to the safety recall report, the problem is not with the tire sensors themselves. Instead, the issue involves the Radio Frequency Hub (RFH) software.

The software can forget or skip updating the pressure values used by the TPMS. As a result, the dashboard may fail to alert the driver even when a tire is running very low on air.

Jeep began investigating the issue last year after engineering tests raised concerns about safety standards. After reviewing data with its supplier, the company identified several software issues and expanded the recall to include additional 2026 models.

Every vehicle included in the recall could experience the glitch. If the TPMS stops working properly, drivers may see a “Service Tire Pressure System” message, a warning light or blank tire-pressure readings on the dashboard.

Jeep Recall Fix Requires a Software Update

The repair does not require replacement of hardware. Jeep dealers will reprogram the Radio Frequency Hub with updated software at no charge, restoring the TPMS’s ability to properly detect and report low tire pressure.

Dealers will receive notification beginning September 9, 2026, while owners are expected to receive notifications between September 29 and October 21.

Once the recall becomes active, owners can check their vehicle identification number (VIN) online to determine whether their SUV is included.

Owners of 2024-2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer models can check their VIN once the recall is available and schedule the software update with a local dealership if their vehicle is affected.
