Porsche has expanded availability of its Porsche Classic Communication Management Plus, or PCCM Plus, retrofit system to more older 911, Boxster and Cayman models. The upgrade brings modern connectivity and navigation features to Porsche sports cars from the 2009 to 2016 model years.
PCCM Plus Adds Modern Connectivity
Porsche says PCCM Plus has become one of its most popular retrofit options. The system is designed to integrate modern connectivity and navigation functions into older Porsche interiors while maintaining the existing cabin layout.
The newly expanded availability covers the following models:
- 987.2 Boxster and Cayman
- 997.2 911
- 981 Boxster and Cayman
- 991.1 911
The affected models span the 2009 to 2016 model years. Features such as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which were not common when these cars were produced, can now be integrated through PCCM Plus.
The system also adds over-the-air updates, YouTube video playback, navigation with satellite imagery, a nano SIM card slot with 4G support and HD Radio.
Seven-Inch Touchscreen Keeps the Factory Look
The new functions are displayed through a seven-inch touchscreen, while certain features can also be controlled using steering-wheel buttons. PCCM Plus continues to support personal vehicle settings.
Owners can also select an exterior color for the virtual vehicle displayed on the touchscreen. Matching the digital vehicle to the actual car helps maintain an original-equipment appearance.
Boxster and Cayman models receiving the upgrade will additionally display the vehicle’s position relative to surrounding objects, complementing the existing parking sensors.
PCCM Plus is now available for more than 300,000 of these older Porsche models.
PCCM Plus Still Trails New Porsche Technology
Although PCCM Plus brings older Porsche models closer to modern connectivity standards, the system does not provide all of the technology found in the latest Porsche vehicles.
The latest Porsche Cayenne Electric, for example, features the brand’s most advanced user interface, including Porsche’s Flow Display. The system uses a curved center OLED screen that physically separates touchscreen controls.
The Cayenne Electric can also be equipped with an optional 14.9-inch passenger-side display, along with Mood Modes designed to prioritize relaxation or revitalization, customizable widgets and advanced gaming options.
Some Porsche enthusiasts may prefer the simplicity of the automaker’s older infotainment systems, which used smaller touchscreens and placed greater emphasis on the driver’s cockpit rather than allowing technology to dominate the driving experience.
How Much Does PCCM Plus Cost?
Porsche has not provided pricing for the latest PCCM Plus system. The system was previously listed for around $1,500, while a Florida parts store was found offering one for $1,475, excluding the recommended installation at a Porsche dealer.

For owners of older Porsche models, PCCM Plus addresses one of the potential drawbacks of aging infotainment technology while retaining a factory-style appearance. The upgrade comes at a cost, but Porsche has long been known for its expensive options and accessories.
