Volkswagen is offering major discounts on the Volkswagen ID.4 in the United States as it works to move existing inventory ahead of the electric SUV’s replacement, the upcoming ID. Tiguan. Discounts on select 2025 models can reach $12,500, bringing the starting price of an ID.4 Pro RWD down to $32,595 before taxes, destination and other charges.
2025 Volkswagen ID.4 Gets $12,500 Discount
Since its launch in 2021, the Volkswagen ID.4 has remained the brand’s best-selling EV in the U.S., although sales have declined. Volkswagen of America is now offering substantial customer bonuses on ID.4 vehicles at participating dealerships.
The largest offer applies to 2025 model-year ID.4 vehicles and provides a customer bonus of up to $12,500 toward a lease or purchase. According to Electrek, the offer runs from September 1 through November 2, 2026.
Volkswagen’s website cautions that the promotion is available only at participating dealerships and that a “very limited inventory is available.” For customers who can secure the offer, the 2025 ID.4 Pro RWD’s starting MSRP falls from $45,095 to $32,595, excluding taxes, destination and other charges.
2026 ID.4 Also Gets a Discount
Volkswagen is also offering a smaller customer bonus on 2026 model-year ID.4 electric SUVs. The lease or purchase incentive is $6,000, although Volkswagen again specifies that the offer applies to very limited inventory.
The $12,500 discount on the 2025 ID.4 is larger than the former $7,500 federal tax credit, which was eliminated by the Trump administration exactly one year ago.
It remains unclear how limited Volkswagen’s ID.4 inventory is. The automaker previously said it had enough supply of current ID.4 models to “support customer demand into 2027,” when its successor is expected to go on sale in the United States.
Volkswagen Ends ID.4 Production in Tennessee
The discounts come after Volkswagen ended ID.4 production in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in April. The company is retooling the assembly lines for gas-powered SUVs, including the three-row Atlas.
Volkswagen’s ID.4 incentives are also significantly larger than the discounts available on some of its gas-powered SUVs. The similarly sized Tiguan receives a $3,000 discount, while the smaller Taos is offered with a $2,000 discount.
The Volkswagen ID. Tiguan Is Coming
Volkswagen is preparing to replace the ID.4 with the ID. Tiguan, including in the U.S. The new electric SUV will go on sale in Europe in early 2027 before arriving in the United States later.
Volkswagen recently teased a fully camouflaged ID. Tiguan prototype. Its smooth design shares some similarities with the ID.4 and the ID.5 electric crossover coupe, which the new model will also replace.

What to Expect From the ID. Tiguan
The ID.4 successor is expected to continue with both single- and dual-motor powertrains. Its driving range is also expected to exceed 300 miles.
Volkswagen is set to fully reveal the ID. Tiguan in early October, with more details about the U.S.-spec version expected to be shared in the coming months.
