The 2027 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk expands the new Cherokee lineup with the most capable version of the crossover yet. With Trail Rated capability, a two-speed power transfer unit, an advanced 4×4 system, increased ground clearance and a hybrid powertrain, the Cherokee Trailhawk is designed for more demanding off-road driving.
What Makes the Cherokee Trailhawk Different?
The Cherokee Trailhawk features a class-exclusive two-speed power transfer unit (PTU) paired with Jeep’s Active Drive II 4×4 system and Lock Mode. The PTU has a 2.92 low-range ratio and a 37.5:1 crawl ratio.
Jeep’s Selec-Terrain system gives drivers five drive modes: Auto, Sport, Snow, Sand/Mud and Rock. These systems allow the Cherokee Trailhawk to tackle slickrock and sand, with engineers testing the SUV at Sand Hollow and Moab.
Steel skid plates protect the front axle, wiring and gas tank, while the hybrid battery receives its own dedicated protection plate.

A More Rugged Cherokee Design
The Cherokee Trailhawk receives several exterior changes compared with other Cherokee models. Its front and rear fascias have a unique design intended to improve the approach and departure angles.
Red tow hooks and 17-inch wheels fitted with Nexen Rodian ATX all-terrain tires add to the rugged setup. The SUV also gets a one-inch suspension lift, while an anti-glare Trailhawk graphic on the hood complements the Trailhawk badging at the rear.
Inside, the Trailhawk features premium Mantis Green upholstery with red accent stitching. The shift-dial finish uses Black Spun Aluminum, while the area surrounding the transmission dial features a Radical Red bezel shared with the Wrangler Rubicon.
As one of the most expensive Cherokee models, the Trailhawk also includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen, powered and heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and a foot-activated power liftgate.
2027 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk Price and Rivals
The 2027 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk starts at $42,630, excluding a $1,995 destination charge. Its listed rivals include several other compact SUVs with off-road-oriented variants.
- Subaru Forester Wilderness: $36,995
- Toyota RAV4 Woodland: $39,900
- Ford Bronco Sport Badlands: $38,260
- Honda CR-V TrailSport Hybrid: $39,200
The Ford Bronco Sport Badlands was rated as the most capable of these rivals. It uses a 250-hp powertrain and Ford’s G.O.A.T. (Goes Over Any Type of Terrain) system.
For an additional $2,395, the Bronco Sport Badlands can receive the Sasquatch Badlands Package. The package adds Bilstein position sensitive dampers, a HOSS 3.0 off-road suspension, high-clearance fender flares, an 850W engine cooling fan and more.
Cherokee Trailhawk vs. Bronco Sport Badlands
The Ford Bronco Sport Badlands and Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk both bridge the gap between conventional compact crossovers and more serious body-on-frame SUVs such as the Jeep Wrangler and Toyota 4Runner.
The Cherokee Trailhawk’s key advantage over the Bronco Sport Badlands is its more efficient hybrid powertrain. The Jeep also offers greater towing capacity and more ground clearance, helping offset its higher price.
2027 Cherokee Trailhawk Production
