The 2027 Hyundai Sonata, known in South Korea as the Sonata “The Edge,” has received a series of updates, including a new Black N Line variant and revised interior options. Although the refreshed model has been announced for the South Korean market, the Sonata’s recent sales growth in the United States highlights the sedan’s continued performance in a market increasingly dominated by SUVs.
2027 Hyundai Sonata Adds a Black N Line Variant
Hyundai has reworked the Sonata for the 2027 model year, introducing the updated Sonata “The Edge” in its home market of South Korea. One of the key changes is the addition of the Black N Line variant, which is based on the range-topping Inspiration trim.
The new Black N Line features additional black exterior elements designed to distinguish it from other versions of the sedan. According to Hyundai, the trim receives a black Hyundai logo and black model-name lettering, along with new 19-inch matte black wheels.
These changes give the Black N Line a stronger and more dynamic appearance, according to the automaker.
Interior Updates Expand Sonata Features
The 2027 Sonata also receives several interior changes. The front seats in the S variant are now four-way power-adjustable, while the previously exclusive Camel-colored interior has been extended to the lower-end Exclusive trim.
Beyond these updates, Hyundai has kept the Sonata’s features and powertrains unchanged for the 2027 model year.
Hyundai Sonata Sales Gain Momentum in the U.S.
Although Hyundai has announced the updated Sonata for South Korea, the model’s performance in the United States raises the possibility that the refreshed version could reach the U.S. market.
Last month, Sonata sales in the United States increased 39% year over year, following a stronger performance in August that delivered a 44% jump.
The Sonata’s hybrid powertrain has also contributed to its performance. During the period of sharply rising fuel prices, sales of the sedan peaked at an 85% year-over-year increase in the spring and summer.
U.S. Sonata Lineup Could See Further Changes
The U.S. Sonata lineup largely mirrors the South Korean range, with the new Black N Line variant representing a difference between the two markets.
Hyundai has not confirmed whether the 2027 Sonata “The Edge” updates will be introduced in the United States. For now, the refreshed model’s announcement applies to South Korea, while the sedan continues to record sales gains in the American market.
