The 2027 Chevrolet Equinox is getting new features, an updated transmission lineup and a $300 price increase across all variants. The changes come as the gasoline-powered SUV remains a major contributor to General Motors’ U.S. sales, even as Equinox sales have declined in 2026 and demand for the all-electric Equinox EV has fallen sharply.
2027 Chevrolet Equinox Adds New Features
General Motors is updating the Chevrolet Equinox for the 2027 model year with revised exterior color options, new cabin technology and an upgraded infotainment system. According to a report from GM Authority, the changes include replacing the Cacti Green paint option with a new premium earth-tone finish called Autumn Harvest Metallic.
The SUV will also offer an in-cabin camera with the Cabin Glance feature. Buyers can select this equipment through the Safety & Technology package.
Another technology update affects the infotainment system, which now features Google’s Built-in system with Gemini as the standard voice assistant.
Chevrolet Equinox Replaces CVT With an Eight-Speed Automatic
One of the most significant changes for the 2027 Chevrolet Equinox is the removal of the continuously variable transmission (CVT). All variants will now come with an eight-speed automatic transmission that was previously reserved for higher-end versions.
The engine remains unchanged. Every variant continues to use a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 175 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque.
2027 Chevrolet Equinox Prices Increase by $300
Alongside the equipment and transmission updates, Chevrolet is raising base prices by $300 across the entire Equinox lineup. The following prices include the $1,995 destination fee.

- ACTIV AWD: $38,195
- RS FWD: $36,195
- RS AWD: $38,195
The updated lineup retains the LT, ACTIV and RS variants, with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations available across the listed trims.
Chevrolet Equinox Remains a Major GM Sales Contributor
The Equinox is one of General Motors’ most important models in the United States, ranking second among the company’s best-selling vehicles overall, behind the Chevrolet Silverado pickup.
The SUV accounts for approximately 10% to 13% of GM’s U.S. sales, with annual sales volume exceeding 200,000 units. However, its performance in 2026 has been weaker than in 2025, when sales experienced a substantial surge.
Equinox sales are down 15% year to date in 2026. Despite the decline, third-quarter results show that the model remains No. 3 on GM’s list of top-selling vehicles.
Equinox EV Sales Fall 92.4% Year to Date
While the gasoline-powered Equinox continues to contribute significantly to GM’s sales, the Equinox EV has experienced a much steeper decline. Sales of the all-electric model have dropped 92.4% year to date.
The contrasting performances highlight the difference between demand for the gasoline-powered Equinox and its electric counterpart. GM’s EV sales are also weighing on the company’s overall sales performance.
With the 2027 Chevrolet Equinox, GM is introducing updated technology, a standard eight-speed automatic transmission and revised pricing while retaining the existing gasoline engine. The changes arrive as the model remains a key part of the automaker’s U.S. sales lineup despite a year-to-date decline.
