Jeremy Clarkson has unveiled a custom Jaguar F-Type built with materials from his Diddly Squat Farm in Oxfordshire, England. Developed with Ian Callum, the designer behind the original F-Type, the one-off sports car features flax-based composite body panels, farm-sourced interior materials and an unchanged supercharged V6 engine. The project will also appear in “Jeremy Grows a Car: A Clarkson’s Farm Special,” scheduled to arrive on Prime Video in 2027.

What Makes the Jaguar F-Type Flax Type Different?

Despite its distinctive appearance, the custom car remains a genuine Jaguar F-Type underneath. The project is based on a pre-facelift F-Type roadster equipped with a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 producing 380 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque. Its rear-wheel-drive mechanical components remain unchanged.

The most significant modifications involve the exterior. The custom body kit features flax-based composite panels, a redesigned front bumper with aerodynamic flaps, wider fenders and bronze five-spoke wheels.

Finished in Tonga Green, the modified sports car, known as the “Flax Type,” has a distinctive appearance while demonstrating the potential use of flax-based composites as an automotive raw material.

How Jeremy Clarkson’s Farm Supplies the Car

The materials used in the project come from Clarkson’s 1,000-acre farm in Oxfordshire, England. The interior features tan leather sourced from his livestock, carpets made from farm-reared sheep’s wool and tweed inserts.

The combination of agricultural materials and a conventional sports car platform gives the project its defining character, connecting the vehicle’s construction to the farm that inspired it.

Clarkson presented the Flax Type at the Villa La Massa Excellence event in Tuscany last weekend, where he appeared to have won a trophy. The project’s cost has not been disclosed, and no direct quotes from Clarkson about the car were available.

Could Flax-Based Composite Materials Be Used in More Cars?

The Flax Type has drawn attention for its unusual approach to automotive materials, but it remains unclear whether its flax-based composite panels could be used beyond this one-off project.

No plans to expand the concept have been announced. The vehicle’s existence nevertheless demonstrates a possible application for flax-based composites as an alternative to materials used in modern cars.

Jeremy Clarkson’s Flax Type Takes a Different Direction

The project arrives as Jaguar undergoes a highly public reinvention. The Flax Type combines a plant-based body kit with a gasoline-powered V6, placing it at a different end of the spectrum from Jaguar’s electric Type 01 direction.

For now, Clarkson’s custom Jaguar F-Type remains a one-off creation made with materials grown or sourced from his farm. The project is set to feature in “Jeremy Grows a Car: A Clarkson’s Farm Special,” which is scheduled to arrive on Prime Video in 2027.
