Audi plans to invest $4 billion in its first U.S. manufacturing facility in Georgia, creating approximately 4,500 jobs as the German luxury automaker seeks to strengthen its position in the American market. The new plant will produce the Q7, Q8 and Q9 SUVs for U.S. customers, with construction scheduled to begin in 2027 and production expected to start in the early 2030s.

Audi Plans $4 Billion Georgia Manufacturing Plant

The German luxury brand will build its new production facility in Peach County, Georgia, at the Middle Georgia Mega Site industrial park. The project represents a major investment in Audi’s U.S. operations as the company works to expand its presence in a market it considers crucial to future growth.

Once completed, the Georgia plant is expected to become one of Audi’s largest manufacturing facilities worldwide, with an annual production capacity of 200,000 vehicles.

The facility will manufacture the Audi Q7, Q8 and Q9 SUVs, with all vehicles produced at the site intended for American customers.

Audi of America President Vito Paladino emphasized the company’s commitment to expanding its role in the United States.

“As part of our larger U.S. strategy, we are focused on becoming an even more significant player in this market,” Paladino said. “This investment signifies the brand’s commitment to our customers, dealers, employees, and communities across the country.”

U.S. Tariffs and Declining Sales Pressure Audi

Audi’s decision comes as the automaker faces mounting challenges in the American market. Without a U.S. manufacturing facility, the company has been particularly exposed to import tariffs introduced under President Donald Trump.

Rivals BMW and Mercedes-Benz have been able to mitigate some of the impact through their local manufacturing operations, while Audi has faced greater exposure to changes in U.S. trade policy.

The company’s sales have also been affected by reduced electric vehicle incentives and the absence of hybrid models from its American lineup.

Despite these pressures, Audi remains committed to serving U.S. customers and expanding its domestic presence. The company views the American market as an important opportunity for future growth.

Why Georgia Appeals to Audi

Georgia offers Audi an established automotive industry presence. Kia and Hyundai already operate manufacturing facilities in the state, while Porsche and Mercedes-Benz maintain their U.S. headquarters in Atlanta.

This existing concentration of automakers makes Georgia an attractive location for Audi’s manufacturing ambitions, providing a state with a substantial automotive industry footprint.

Audi’s Announcement Comes Ahead of the Midterm Elections

The investment announcement comes ahead of the U.S. midterm elections scheduled for Tuesday, November 3. Georgia is a key political battleground for both parties, and the planned facility adds a major industrial investment to the state’s economic landscape.

President Donald Trump reconfirmed the plans for Audi’s first U.S. production facility, bringing further attention to the proposed investment.

Audi’s planned $4 billion Georgia plant will mark a significant expansion of its American manufacturing operations, with approximately 4,500 jobs, a projected annual capacity of 200,000 vehicles and production of three SUV models intended for U.S. buyers.
