The first BMW Alpina model developed under BMW Group ownership has been spotted testing, offering an early look at a high-performance version of the upcoming 2027 BMW 7 Series.

The prototype features a V8 engine, distinctive styling details and design elements that separate it from the standard luxury sedan. BMW has not confirmed the model’s official name, although the B7 badge remains a possibility.

BMW Alpina 7 Series Expected to Deliver More V8 Power

The new Alpina sedan is expected to produce more power than the current BMW M760 xDrive. That model uses a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 producing 563 horsepower, giving the upcoming Alpina version room for a significant performance increase.

Output could approach 600 horsepower, matching the power level of the previous-generation Alpina B7, which was produced from 2016 through 2022.

The prototype’s rear end features oval exhaust outlets, smoked taillights and a potentially revised bumper. These details help distinguish the vehicle from the standard 7 Series.

Distinctive Wheels and Front-End Design

The test vehicle wears complex alloy wheels that appear to reinterpret Alpina’s traditional 20-spoke design. The wheels are expected to receive a modern treatment while preserving the brand’s recognizable styling.

At the front, the prototype features amber daytime running lights, a detail also shown on the BMW Alpina Vision concept unveiled a few months ago. The lighting could become a signature element of future Alpina models.

The grille appears to use three horizontal vanes, compared with the seven slats found on the standard 7 Series. The lower front intake also looks more upright and aggressive, giving the sedan a distinct appearance.

Luxury Interior and Digital Updates Expected

The new Alpina 7 Series is expected to feature premium interior materials and distinctive cabin details. It could also receive unique graphics for its digital displays, helping differentiate the model from other versions of the BMW flagship sedan.

The prototype was spotted near BMW’s base at the Nürburgring, suggesting that additional testing and sightings could follow in the coming weeks and months.

BMW Alpina 7 Series Could Debut in Early 2027

The new model is expected to be revealed in early 2027. It will mark an important step for Alpina as the brand begins operating under BMW Group ownership.

An Alpina version of the BMW X7 is also expected to arrive later next year. It is likely to carry the XB7 name, continuing the naming approach used by the previous high-performance luxury SUV.
