The Lamborghini Gallardo is getting a dramatic new interpretation from its original designer, Fabrizio Giugiaro. The HOMMAGE 26 reimagines the iconic supercar with a carbon-fiber body, a naturally aspirated V10 engine and a manual transmission while preserving key elements of the original design.

The project also launches a new Designer Series, allowing renowned automotive designers to revisit and reinterpret their own creations.

HOMMAGE 26 Reimagines the Original Lamborghini Gallardo

Giugiaro originally designed the Gallardo at Italdesign in 1998. The supercar arrived in the early 2000s, offering a more accessible alternative to the Lamborghini Murciélago while becoming one of the brand’s most recognizable models.

The HOMMAGE 26 retains elements of the original Gallardo’s design, particularly at the front. Giugiaro says the nose closely follows his original 1998 vision, while the rear has been completely redesigned.

Despite its connection to the original car, only five components carry over: the roof, side windows, windshield, side mirrors and their bases. Everything else is new, including the carbon-fiber body.

The redesigned supercar also features pop-down headlights, active aerodynamic flaps and an opening rear window that provides access to the engine compartment.

These changes combine modern styling with familiar Gallardo proportions, maintaining the identity of the original model while introducing a substantially different design.

Interior Redesign Details Remain Under Wraps

The interior is also being redesigned, although details have not yet been revealed.

Giugiaro describes the project as an evolution of an existing idea, with some design elements remaining faithful to the past while others have been updated for the present.

Lamborghini Gallardo HOMMAGE 26 Keeps the Manual V10

The HOMMAGE 26 retains the original 5.0-liter V10 engine, with Italtecnica modifying it to deliver increased performance. The engine can now rev to 8,500 rpm, and the car will feature a manual transmission.

Buyers will be able to choose between two versions:

  • GT: 540 horsepower
  • Performance: 560 horsepower

The chassis upgrades include a two-mode suspension system with comfort and sport settings, upgraded brakes and 20-inch wheels.

Only 25 HOMMAGE 26 Supercars Will Be Built

Just 25 examples of the HOMMAGE 26 will be produced, with each vehicle based on a first-generation Lamborghini Gallardo.

Customers can provide their own donor car or have one sourced for them.

The starting price is €900,000, equivalent to approximately $1 million at current exchange rates. The price does not include the donor vehicle or additional options.

As the first project in the Designer Series, the HOMMAGE 26 also gives buyers priority access to future projects in the collection.
