The Ford Edge L has received a major facelift in China, featuring updated exterior styling, a more luxurious interior and new technology. The redesigned SUV arrives after the Edge was discontinued in the U.S. in 2024, offering a more premium look with reclining second-row seats, expansive digital displays and upgraded camera technology.

Ford Edge L Gets a New Exterior Design

The updated Ford Edge L is the only Edge model currently sold in China, where it replaced the Edge Plus several years ago. Despite the L badge, the facelifted SUV does not feature a longer wheelbase.

The redesign introduces what Ford describes as “purer surfaces,” reflecting its design values of power, personality and presence. The styling emphasizes cleaner shapes rather than the sharp lines associated with Ford’s New Edge design language from the late 1990s.

At the front, the SUV features a simplified fascia and a revised grille pattern. The headlights have been repositioned higher and farther outward, integrating them more closely with the grille instead of sitting in separate modules.

The lower bumper is more upright, giving the Edge L a squarer and more assertive appearance.

Revised Rear Styling Creates a Cleaner Look

Changes at the rear are more subtle, with updated LED taillights that appear to retain their existing housings.

Ford has moved the license plate from the tailgate to the bumper, creating a cleaner look. Additional bumper revisions further modernize the SUV’s appearance.

Ford Edge L Interior Features Premium Upgrades

The cabin receives some of the most significant changes, including a redesigned digital display system that stretches across much of the dashboard.

The setup consists of two separate screens: one for the main instrument display and another serving the center stack and front passenger. The second screen sits closer to the driver and passenger, creating an ultra-wide appearance while making it easier to reach and operate.

Other interior features include airline-style reclining second-row seats, dual wireless chargers up front and quilted leather upholstery.

The upgrades give the Edge L a more premium cabin than the Ford Edge previously offered in the U.S.

New Camera System Offers 540-Degree Views

The updated SUV also features a camera system described as providing a 540-degree view. It can display the surroundings of the vehicle as well as views underneath it.

Although the 540-degree description may not be entirely precise, the system’s ability to show areas beneath the SUV adds another layer of visibility for drivers.

With its redesigned exterior, upgraded interior and expanded technology, the Ford Edge L continues to serve markets outside the United States, where the Edge name remains part of the automaker’s SUV lineup.
