Volkswagen EVs could see significant changes as the automaker moves forward with plans to reduce its global vehicle lineup by as much as 50% by 2030. While the company has not identified the specific models that will be discontinued, a new report says several electric vehicles across the Volkswagen Group, including models from Audi and Porsche, are among those expected to be affected.

Volkswagen Plans Major Lineup Reduction

After announcing plans last week to reduce its global workforce by up to 100,000 employees as part of its latest cost-cutting efforts, Volkswagen said it also intends to shrink its vehicle lineup by up to 50% by 2030.

The automaker has not released a list of the models it plans to discontinue. However, German newspaper Bild reported that 10 models are expected to be phased out, including several electric vehicles.

Report Identifies Volkswagen Models Facing Discontinuation

According to the report, first highlighted by Motor1, the list includes the Volkswagen Jetta sedan and the Taos SUV.

The Jetta has long been one of Volkswagen’s best-selling vehicles and one of the market’s most popular sedans, but buyers are shifting toward SUVs and more efficient alternatives.

Although it was not included in the reported list, the Volkswagen ID.5 electric SUV coupe, which is sold in Europe, the United Kingdom, and other global markets but not in the United States, has also been rumored to face discontinuation.

Porsche EVs and Gas Models Also Included

Bild’s reported “concrete list” also includes several gasoline-powered and electric models from Porsche.

According to the newspaper, the gasoline-powered Porsche 718 and the electric Porsche Taycan will not receive next-generation models.

Porsche previously announced plans to retire the gasoline-powered Macan, which is scheduled to end production later this month.

While the gasoline-powered 718 Boxster and Cayman are being phased out, the upcoming electric version was not included on the reported list, indicating it remains in development.

Audi Models Named in the Report

Under the Audi brand, the reported list includes the Q5 Sportback and the electric Q6 E-Tron Sportback.

The Audi E-Tron GT, however, was not mentioned despite being a sibling model to the Porsche Taycan.

At the same time, Audi is preparing to launch two major vehicles this year: the entry-level electric A2 and the flagship Q9 SUV.

Additional Volkswagen Group Models

The report also names the Skoda Fabia and the Cupra Raval among the Volkswagen Group models expected to be discontinued. Neither vehicle is sold in the United States.

Volkswagen has not officially identified the models that will be removed from its lineup, but the reported list suggests several electric and gasoline-powered vehicles across its brands could be affected as the company moves ahead with its broader restructuring plans.
