Mercedes-AMG has been spotted testing a more aggressive version of its new all-electric AMG GT 4-Door, raising the possibility that it could become the brand’s first electric Black Series model. The prototype, seen at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, features significant aerodynamic upgrades that suggest Mercedes-AMG is developing an even more performance-focused version of its latest EV.
Prototype Shows Major Aerodynamic Upgrades
The most noticeable changes appear at the front of the prototype, where the AMG GT 63 4-Door Coupe has gained large vaned hood vents. The blades direct airflow toward the windshield and appear even more extreme than those found on the Porsche 911 GT3 RS.
Mercedes-AMG has not disclosed the purpose of the new vents. It remains unclear whether they are designed to cool the axial flux motors, reduce front-end lift, decrease aerodynamic drag, or serve a combination of those functions.
A roll cage is also visible through the windshield, indicating that the updates are intended to deliver measurable performance benefits.
Rear Wing Signals a More Track-Focused Design
While the front bumper may receive additional revisions, the prototype’s rear closely resembles the version unveiled in May. The most significant addition is a large rear wing mounted to the tailgate, complete with endplates designed to help manage airflow around the vehicle’s glasshouse.
Overall, the prototype presents a more aggressive appearance than the production model, with Mercedes-AMG appearing to push the design further toward an extreme performance-focused direction.
Unclear Whether It Is a New Model or Performance Package
Mercedes-AMG has not confirmed whether the vehicle represents an entirely new flagship variant or a factory-approved performance package that will be offered to buyers of the AMG GT 63.
The company has never introduced a Black Series version of an electric vehicle, making this prototype especially notable if it ultimately receives that designation.
Already Massive Power Could Increase Further
The standard AMG GT 55 4-Door Coupe produces 805 horsepower, while the AMG GT 63 delivers 1,153 horsepower and 1,475 lb-ft of torque. If this prototype receives additional power, it would require a highly experienced driver to fully exploit its performance.
Although Mercedes-AMG has not confirmed any powertrain changes, the company appears to be continuing development of its flagship electric performance sedan. More details are expected once additional information becomes available.
