The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Extreme appears to be undergoing testing at Germany’s Nürburgring, where a camouflaged prototype was recently spotted. The track-focused electric vehicle features several aerodynamic changes and could be aimed at improving on the already impressive performance of the SU7 Ultra with the Track Package.
Track-Focused Xiaomi SU7 Prototype Spotted
The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra with the Track Package is already among the fastest production electric vehicles to lap the Nürburgring, recording a time of 7:04.957. That lap placed it ahead of the significantly more expensive Rimac Nevera by 0.341 seconds.
The newly spotted prototype could potentially post an even quicker lap. According to the Ringprototypes Instagram account, the vehicle is referred to as the “Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Extreme,” a name that suggests a more performance-oriented version of the electric sedan.
Aerodynamic Changes Hint at Higher Performance
The camouflaged prototype features several noticeable exterior revisions, including a larger rear wing, a more pronounced rear diffuser, and a redesigned front bumper.
These modifications could increase downforce, allowing the vehicle to maintain higher speeds through corners. The Nürburgring Nordschleife includes 73 turns and stretches 20.8 kilometers (12.9 miles).
Powertrain Remains Unconfirmed
It remains unclear whether the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Extreme will receive additional power.
The current SU7 Ultra uses a tri-motor powertrain that produces 1,527 horsepower, enabling the electric vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 1.98 seconds without rollout. That places it in the same category as the Lucid Air Sapphire and the now-discontinued Tesla Model S.
Nürburgring EV Records Continue to Evolve
Xiaomi secured the Nürburgring production electric sedan record in 2025, but other production EVs have since recorded faster lap times.
The U9 Xtreme from Yangwang, BYD’s electric luxury division, became the first production electric vehicle to complete the circuit in under seven minutes with a lap time of 6:59.157. Earlier this year, the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with the Manthey Kit established the current production EV benchmark by recording a time of 6:55.533.
Xiaomi Eyes Stronger Performance Credentials
If Xiaomi regains the Nürburgring production EV title with the SU7 Ultra Extreme, it would further strengthen the company’s performance credentials and demonstrate that China-built vehicles can compete with leading global manufacturers in both the consumer market and on the racetrack.
The report also notes that BYD is reportedly considering a future entry into Formula 1.
Xiaomi Also Holds an Autonomous Driving Record
While additional details about the camouflaged prototype have not yet been released, Xiaomi also holds another Nürburgring milestone unrelated to outright speed.
The YU7 GT completed the circuit’s first officially timed autonomous lap in 10:29.483, leading Nürburgring officials to establish a new “Autonomous Driving” category.
The latest Nürburgring testing suggests Xiaomi continues to refine the SU7 platform, with the camouflaged Ultra Extreme potentially representing the next step in the brand’s high-performance electric vehicle lineup.
