The next-generation Toyota Corolla has surfaced in a newly released teaser image, offering an early glimpse of the upcoming model’s styling. Although the image is blurred, it closely resembles the concept vehicle revealed last year, suggesting Toyota is preparing a sharper-looking Corolla with multiple powertrain options.
New Teaser Offers First Look at the Next Toyota Corolla
As first reported by Carscoops, Toyota and Japan’s public broadcaster, NHK, revealed the teaser during a documentary series released in Japan. The image appears while Toyota employees watch a presentation featuring a future vehicle.
While those in the presentation viewed the full design, the publicly released footage shows only a blurred silhouette. Even so, the shape appears to closely match last year’s concept vehicle.
Design Appears Closely Inspired by the Concept
The teaser retains the concept’s wedge-shaped profile and appears to feature the same angular sculpting in the lower door panels. The window design also mirrors the concept, including the recessed area behind the side mirror that gives the vehicle a lower and longer appearance.
The front overhang appears short, while the roofline tapers toward the rear hatch area. The narrow taillights also seem to carry over from the concept, although the charge indicator behind the front fender is not visible in the teaser.
Because of the blurred image, it is also unclear whether the teased sedan includes the concept’s glass roof panel.
Multiple Powertrain Options Expected
The upcoming Toyota Corolla is expected to be offered with hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and all-electric powertrains. A next-generation GR Corolla is also expected to arrive at dealerships later.
It remains unclear whether Toyota will continue offering a traditional hatchback alongside the new model or if the fastback-style sedan shown in the teaser will serve buyers from both segments.
Corolla Continues to Evolve
The current Toyota Corolla generation debuted in 2018 and continues to perform well in North America. The newly released teaser suggests the next-generation model is being developed with a more distinctive design while maintaining the broader Corolla lineup across multiple trims and powertrain configurations.
