Abt Sportsline is celebrating its 130th anniversary with the debut of the ABT RS Q8-LE 1000, a limited-production performance SUV that delivers up to 1,000 horsepower. The anniversary model is the latest in a trio of special editions following the RS 6-LE 800 and showcases extensive power, chassis, aerodynamic, and interior upgrades.
130 Years of Abt Sportsline
Abt Sportsline traces its history back to 1896, when Johann Baptist Abt took over a local blacksmith shop. In its early years, the business crafted horseshoes and developed ski-skids for carriages to improve stability in deep snow.
Now, 130 years later, the company bearing the Abt name is commemorating the milestone with a series of anniversary vehicles, including the new RS Q8-LE 1000.
Power Increased to 1,000 Horsepower
The special edition is based on the Audi RS Q8, which produces 631 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque in factory specification. For the anniversary model, Abt equips the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 with its Power R performance package.
The upgrade includes ABT-designed turbochargers, an intercooler, and a water-methanol injection system designed to keep engine temperatures under control. When the water-methanol system is active, the engine delivers the full 1,000 horsepower output.
The system is operated through the myAbt app, which works with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing tuning functions to be accessed from the vehicle’s dashboard.
Suspension, Aerodynamics, and Performance
Abt has also revised the RS Q8’s four-corner air suspension and added a custom calibration for the 48-volt active roll stabilization system to reduce body movement and improve stability at higher speeds.
According to the company, the RS Q8-LE 1000 reaches a top speed of 199 mph, approximately 10 mph faster than the standard RS Q8.
To complement the performance upgrades, the SUV receives an extensive matte-finished exposed carbon-fiber aerodynamic package. The modifications include a front lip spoiler, bumper inserts, hood and fender vents, an aggressive rear diffuser, and a roof spoiler designed to improve airflow and stability.
The anniversary model also rides on 23-inch wheels finished in “Neodym,” matching those featured on the RS 6 anniversary special.
Cabin Receives Anniversary Upgrades
Inside, the RS Q8-LE 1000 features additional matte carbon-fiber trim on components including the shift paddles and center console gear selector. The dashboard and seats receive carbon accents, while the steering wheel is wrapped in Alcantara.
The upholstery includes Abt logo embroidery and LE 1000 branding, and an anniversary coin displaying each vehicle’s serial number is mounted on the center console.
Pricing and Production
The anniversary package is priced at 165,000 euros, with installation costing an additional 20,000 euros. The combined 185,000-euro price is nearly $213,000 at current exchange rates and does not include the donor vehicle.
Adding a base Audi RS Q8, priced at $140,995, brings the total cost to approximately $354,000. The article notes that this is comparable to the price of a well-optioned Lamborghini Urus with plug-in hybrid power, while adding that only 30 buyers will receive the limited-production ABT RS Q8-LE 1000 anniversary model.
