Honda Prelude Draws Praise but Has Practical Limitations
Honda’s return of the Prelude nameplate has been well received, with the hybrid coupe offering a comfortable driving experience, a refined chassis, and the S+ Shift system that makes it more engaging to drive.
Despite those strengths, the Prelude’s 2+2 layout comes with compromises. The sloping roofline limits rear headroom, making the back seats suitable only for shorter trips. While rear passengers may have adequate knee room, headroom is significantly restricted.
The coupe’s roof design also affects cargo space. Although the Prelude features a hatchback design with folding rear seats, the low roofline makes it difficult to load taller items into the cargo area.

The redesign preserves the front-end styling, including the slim LED headlights, clean front fascia, and overall design language. Behind the B-pillar, however, the longer roof dramatically changes the vehicle’s proportions while maintaining the recognizable Prelude identity.
