A leaked order guide suggests the 2027 Ford F-150 will receive notable engine updates, including a new standard EcoBoost engine for several trims and the return of the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 to Ford’s highest-end models. While Ford has not officially confirmed the changes, the dealer document indicates the automaker is expanding powertrain options without abandoning its turbocharged V6 lineup.
Leaked Order Guide Points to New Base EcoBoost Engine
The dealer document, which was posted to the F150Gen14 forum, indicates that Ford will replace the 2.7-liter EcoBoost with a 3.0-liter EcoBoost engine in selected 2027 F-150 models.
Although the order guide does not specify output figures for the new engine, the same 3.0-liter EcoBoost produces between 400 and 418 horsepower and up to 440 lb-ft of torque elsewhere in Ford’s lineup. By comparison, the outgoing 2.7-liter EcoBoost was rated at 325 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque.
According to the leaked document, the 3.0-liter EcoBoost will serve as the standard engine in certain F-150 XL, STX, XLT, and Lariat models.
5.0-Liter Coyote V8 Returns to Premium Trims
The leaked order guide also indicates that Ford is expanding availability of its naturally aspirated 5.0-liter Coyote V8.
Previously unavailable in the King Ranch and Platinum trims, the V8 is expected to return as an option for both models. Those trims had previously been limited to the 3.5-liter EcoBoost and the hybrid PowerBoost powertrain.
Based on the information provided, the 5.0-liter V8 continues to trail the twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost in output, with ratings of 400 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque.
V8 Available Across the Entire F-150 Lineup
If the leaked document proves accurate, every 2027 Ford F-150 trim will offer a V8 engine option.
The expanded availability comes as naturally aspirated V8 engines have become less common in the full-size pickup segment. At the same time, Ford’s turbocharged EcoBoost engines remain a central part of the F-150 lineup rather than being replaced.
Ford has not officially announced the reported powertrain changes, but the leaked order guide points to a broader range of engine choices for the 2027 F-150, combining updated EcoBoost offerings with wider availability of the 5.0-liter Coyote V8.
