Peregryn Automotive is bringing the Ultima Cars lineup to the United States after acquiring the brand’s intellectual property, rights, and tooling. The company plans to build fully assembled supercars in the U.S., introducing two models—the GT-S and GT-R—with production scheduled to begin in 2027.
Peregryn Automotive Acquires Ultima Cars Assets
Peregryn Automotive, led by entrepreneurs Chris Eby and Mike Ellis, has acquired the intellectual property, rights, and tooling for the entire Ultima Cars range. As part of the transition, production and assembly will move from the United Kingdom to the United States.
Ultima is a low-volume British manufacturer recognized for producing ultra-lightweight supercars. Peregryn plans to launch two models under the new operation: the GT-S and the GT-R.
GT-S and GT-R Target Different Drivers
The GT-S is designed as a road-focused grand tourer producing more than 500 horsepower and offering a top speed exceeding 200 mph. Buyers will be able to choose either a digital or an analog dashboard.
The GT-R is the track-oriented model, delivering up to 700 horsepower and an estimated 0-to-60 mph time of 2.2 seconds, placing its acceleration on par with a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1.
Both models will be offered with Chevrolet LS- or LT-series V8 engines, giving owners access to the extensive aftermarket support available in the United States.
Lightweight Construction and Performance-Focused Engineering
Unlike Ultima’s previous kit-car offerings, Peregryn Automotive will sell fully assembled, turnkey vehicles built in the United States.
The cars will feature AP Racing brakes capable of stopping from 100 mph in 3.6 seconds, a carbon-fiber aerodynamic package that generates more than 1,200 pounds of downforce, and a full spaceframe chassis.
With an estimated dry weight of just 2,100 pounds, the GT-S and GT-R will continue Ultima’s longstanding focus on maximizing the power-to-weight ratio.
Pricing and Production Timeline
Peregryn Automotive expects pricing to begin at approximately $195,000, placing the vehicles in roughly the same price range as the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1.
For buyers seeking a lower-cost alternative, the Superlite SL-C is noted as a lightweight kit car commonly built with GM LS-series V8 engines. According to the company’s customer-facing website, its standard kit starts at $64,500.
Peregryn Automotive says production is scheduled to ramp up in March 2027, with the first customer deliveries expected in April or May. The company, whose roots extend back more than four decades and are closely tied to Le Mans-inspired performance, said production will remain limited but has not announced a specific production cap.
