Kia has introduced a new version of the Seltos for the Chinese market, featuring a redesigned interior, expanded technology, and a more powerful engine than the U.S. model. While the exterior remains largely familiar, the latest Chinese-market Seltos places a greater emphasis on digital features and advanced in-car technology.

Chinese Kia Seltos Receives a Completely Updated Interior

The most significant changes are found inside the cabin. Unlike the U.S.-specification Seltos, which features dual displays, the Chinese model is equipped with a 27-inch panoramic screen that extends across much of the dashboard and is accessible to both the driver and front passenger.

The infotainment system is powered by a Snapdragon 8295P processor. According to Kia, the system delivers faster touch response, smoother animations, and split-screen multitasking capabilities.

The vehicle also includes Baidu Maps and Gaode navigation, iQiyi video streaming, a built-in KTV karaoke application, and an onboard AI assistant.

Revised Cabin Layout Adds Space and Features

Kia has also changed the interior layout by moving the gear selector to the steering column. The revised design frees additional storage space in the center console area between the front seats.

The Chinese-market Seltos is equipped with Level 2 driver assistance features, including Remote Smart Parking Assist. The system allows the vehicle to park in tight spaces using the key fob.

Chinese Model Offers a More Powerful Engine

Although the exterior design remains largely unchanged, the powertrain differs from the version sold in the United States.

The top-specification Chinese Kia Seltos is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 197 horsepower and 187 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

By comparison, the U.S.-market Kia Seltos X-Line SX produces 190 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque while also using an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Kia Tailors the Seltos for Different Markets

The latest Chinese-market Kia Seltos highlights how the automaker adapts its vehicles to regional preferences. While the exterior design closely resembles the version sold in the United States, the cabin technology, interior layout, driver assistance features, and engine distinguish the Chinese model from its American counterpart.
