The 2027 Hyundai Elantra has made a strong debut in South Korea, where the model is sold as the Avante. After Hyundai unveiled the redesigned compact sedan in June without revealing specifications or its interior, the automaker has now opened reservations, collecting 11,094 orders within the first 24 hours while also releasing the vehicle’s full specifications.
2027 Hyundai Elantra Sets New Reservation Record
Hyundai announced that reservations for the redesigned Avante reached 11,094 within 24 hours of opening in South Korea. The figure surpasses the reservation record established by the previous-generation model in 2020.
The eighth-generation Elantra, marketed as the Avante in its home market, features a larger overall design than its predecessor. The latest reservation launch also marks the first release of the model’s official specifications.
Gas and Hybrid Powertrains Lead the Launch
At launch, the 2027 Hyundai Elantra will be available with either a gasoline engine or a hybrid powertrain. Hyundai has not yet introduced N or N Line performance variants.
The gasoline model is powered by a 2.0-liter engine producing 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque, paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
The hybrid combines a 1.6-liter engine with an electric motor for a total system output of 155 horsepower. The electric motor delivers 150 lb-ft of torque, while the gasoline engine produces 106 lb-ft on its own. The hybrid is paired with a dual-clutch transmission.
According to the released specifications, the new hybrid’s combined horsepower increases from the outgoing model’s 138 horsepower to 155 horsepower.
Redesigned Cabin Brings New Technology
The redesigned interior introduces a significantly updated cabin with what appears to be more padded materials throughout, giving it a more upscale appearance.
A digital display positioned near the base of the windshield resembles BMW’s Panoramic Vision concept but functions more like a physical head-up display.
The infotainment system runs Hyundai’s Pleos Connect operating system, which includes the Gleo AI Assistant, an app marketplace, and over-the-air software update capability.
Hyundai has also retained a substantial number of physical dials and buttons on the dashboard.
Trim Levels and South Korea Pricing
In South Korea, the 2027 Avante is offered in three trim levels for both gasoline and hybrid models:
- Modern (base)
- Premium (mid-level)
- Inspiration (top trim)
The trim lineup is expected to differ when the redesigned Elantra reaches the North American market.
Pricing in South Korea starts at 23,980,000 won for the entry-level gasoline model and rises to 36,990,000 won for the fully equipped flagship hybrid. Converted to U.S. currency, that equates to a range from just under $17,000 to approximately $26,000.
Launch Marks Next Step for the Redesigned Elantra
With reservations setting a new record in South Korea and full specifications now available, the 2027 Hyundai Elantra enters the market with gasoline and hybrid options, an extensively redesigned interior, updated technology, and three trim levels for its home market.
