Telo is preparing to bring its compact MT1 electric pickup to market, combining small dimensions with towing capability that exceeds the standard Tesla Cybertruck, according to the company. Founded in 2022, the startup has spent the past three years developing an electric truck designed to deliver pickup utility in a significantly smaller footprint.
Telo MT1 Combines Compact Size With High Performance
The Telo MT1 is designed to be no longer than a standard two-door Mini Cooper, making it easier to maneuver and park in urban environments.
Despite its compact size, the company says the MT1 can tow up to 8,000 pounds. According to the original report, that exceeds the towing capacity of the standard Tesla Cybertruck.
Dual-Motor Powertrain and 106-kWh Battery
The MT1 is equipped with a 106-kWh battery pack and an available dual-motor powertrain producing 500 horsepower.
According to the original report, the vehicle offers bed utility comparable to a Toyota Tacoma while occupying substantially less space.
Telo initially estimated the MT1’s towing capacity at 6,600 pounds. Following additional real-world testing, the company increased the maximum towing rating to 8,000 pounds.
The report states that the truck weighs approximately 4,400 pounds, allowing it to tow nearly twice its own weight.
Pricing and Range
The entry-level MT1 starts at $41,520 and features a single electric motor producing 300 horsepower with an estimated driving range of 260 miles. The company also says the model supports fast charging.
Buyers seeking the dual-motor, all-wheel-drive version with 500 horsepower and an estimated 350 miles of range can expect a starting price of about $50,000.
Production Target Set for Late 2026
Telo was founded in 2022 and has received a $20 million Series A funding round. The company also has board guidance from original Tesla co-founder Marc Tarpenning.
The startup is targeting late 2026 for the start of MT1 production.
If production begins as planned, the Telo MT1 will enter the growing electric pickup segment with a focus on combining compact dimensions, pickup utility, and high towing capability.
