The Bentley Torcal, the brand’s first-ever fully battery electric vehicle (BEV), is set to introduce a new cabin technology designed to transform the driving and passenger experience. Called the Curation Engine, the system combines light, sound, climate and air quality to create four distinct cabin modes.
Bentley Torcal Introduces the Curation Engine
Bentley has built its identity around tradition and heritage while continuing to develop newer models with an eye toward the future as part of the Volkswagen Group.
The Torcal represents a major step in that direction as Bentley’s first fully battery electric vehicle. With its global reveal targeted for September of this year, the automaker has begun announcing some of the luxury features planned for the SUV.
One of those features is Bentley’s new Curation Engine, a system designed to enhance the Torcal’s cabin and driving experience. Bentley says it goes beyond the cabin bespoke settings it already offers by allowing owners to “transform the atmosphere of the entire cabin.”
Four Cabin Modes Work as One System
The Curation Engine coordinates the cabin’s lighting, sound, climate and air quality to create four distinct modes: Bentley Mode, Comfort Mode, Sport Mode and Refresh Mode.
The curated experiences are selected through a control positioned at the center of the cabin. The control is designed as a crystallized knob and serves as the interface for the Curation Engine.
System Developed Using Sensory Neuroscience
Bentley says the Curation Engine was developed using sensory neuroscience and calibrated to operate as a unified system. The automaker says this approach is intended to create a more intuitive and natural experience rather than one that feels completely technological.
Bentley Mode is the default setting. It creates what Bentley describes as a warm, dynamic and perfectly balanced atmosphere inside the cabin.
Comfort Mode is designed to reduce distractions and encourage relaxation. In addition to softening the lighting, it offers a detox setting that reduces the flow of information and allows attention to shift away from screens.
Sport Mode is designed to revive the senses through a more immersive soundtrack while focusing on making the drive feel more responsive, immediate and precise. The setting is intended to transform the Torcal into a more engaging driver’s SUV.
Refresh Mode is specific to the Torcal. It increases fresh-air circulation and brightens the interior cabin lighting, with the primary goal of combating fatigue and enhancing driver and occupant alertness.
Bentley Torcal Moves Toward Its Global Reveal
The Curation Engine adds a new layer to the Bentley Torcal’s cabin experience by bringing multiple environmental elements together through four curated modes. Bentley is expected to reveal the fully battery electric SUV globally in September of this year.
