Ford’s Tremor lineup is having its strongest sales year yet, and the off-road package is becoming increasingly popular among buyers who want rugged capability without giving up family-friendly practicality. Tremor sales increased 118% during the first half of 2026 compared with the same period last year.

The latest example is the 2026 Ford Expedition Tremor, a full-size SUV that combines the power of Ford’s twin-turbo V6 with serious off-road hardware, seating for up to eight passengers and a towing capacity of up to 9,300 pounds.

Ford’s Tremor Lineup Continues to Grow

Ford originally introduced the Tremor package for the 2020 model year on the F-250 and F-350 Super Duty pickup trucks, giving the heavy-duty pickups additional off-road capability. The name had previously been used on the F-150 Tremor, but the concept became a much broader success when Ford expanded it across its lineup.

Today, Ford offers Tremor versions of the Maverick, Ranger, F-150, Super Duty, Explorer and Expedition. The automaker says the Expedition Tremor is particularly popular, accounting for one-quarter, or 25%, of all Expedition sales.

The Expedition Tremor Is a Family-Friendly Raptor Alternative

Calling the Expedition Tremor a “family Raptor” may be an exaggeration, but the SUV comes surprisingly close to that concept in the full-size SUV segment.

The Expedition Tremor uses the same 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 found in the F-150 Raptor. It produces 440 horsepower, just 10 fewer horsepower than the Raptor, along with 510 pound-feet of torque.

The SUV is also quick for its size. Testing recorded a 0-to-60-mph time of 5.5 seconds, putting the Expedition Tremor ahead of the Chevrolet Tahoe High Country, which recorded 6.32 seconds, and the Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro, which reached 60 mph in 6.14 seconds.

Serious Off-Road Capability

The Expedition Tremor also stands out for its ground clearance, offering 10.6 inches at the front. The GMC Yukon AT4 comes closest among the competitors mentioned, with 10 inches of ground clearance.

Ford gives the Tremor an appropriately rugged appearance with 33-inch General Grabber all-terrain tires, Raptor-style running boards, hidden auxiliary lights and orange exterior accents.

When properly equipped, the Expedition Tremor can tow up to 9,300 pounds, adding substantial utility to its off-road credentials.

Room for Eight Passengers

Unlike many expensive SUVs that prioritize second-row captain’s chairs and seven-passenger seating, the Expedition Tremor can be configured to carry eight people.

Ford offers a second-row bench seat for an additional $595. Each of the three second-row seats can slide and recline individually, while the third row provides enough space for three passengers.

The Expedition also features a split-opening tailgate. The design is useful for loading and unloading, while a deployable table provides an additional practical feature for activities such as camping or watching a child’s soccer game.

2027 Expedition Tremor Pricing

The 2027 Ford Expedition Tremor starts at $85,690, including a $2,795 destination fee. That places it just below the King Ranch in the Expedition’s four-trim lineup.

For buyers looking for a large family SUV with serious off-road capability, the Expedition Tremor stands out as a combination of performance, passenger space, towing ability and rugged hardware.

How the Expedition Tremor Compares

The Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 is larger and less expensive than the Expedition Tremor, but it offers less ground clearance and fewer standard features. Buyers also need to choose an optional engine to make it competitive with the Tremor.

The GMC Yukon AT4 offers a similar formula to the Tahoe Z71 and can approach the Tremor’s ground clearance when equipped with its optional air suspension. The available AT4 Ultimate adds more luxury, although its pricing moves closer to the Lincoln Navigator.

The Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro uses a hybrid powertrain and costs slightly less than the Expedition Tremor, but it provides less interior space and lower ground clearance.

With Tremor sales climbing rapidly and the Expedition accounting for a significant share of the model’s sales, Ford’s off-road-focused SUV is proving that buyers can want serious trail capability without sacrificing the space and versatility required by a large family vehicle.
