BMW’s new M2 xDrive may be the smallest member of the M lineup, but checking every available option can push its price deep into larger-M-car territory. The all-wheel-drive M2 starts at $73,600 before destination and handling fees, but a fully loaded example configured through BMW USA reaches $92,400.

The BMW M2 xDrive adds 185 pounds compared with the standard car while cutting three-tenths of a second from its zero-to-60 mph acceleration time. The all-wheel-drive system was ultimately confirmed after strong demand from American buyers helped convince BMW to build the configuration.

BMW M2 xDrive Reaches $92,400

BMW lists the M2 xDrive at $73,600 before its $1,350 destination and handling charge. Selecting every available factory option adds $17,450, bringing the price before destination to $91,050 and the final MSRP to $92,400.

The most expensive individual option is the $9,900 Carbon Package. It accounts for more than half of the total options cost and includes M Carbon bucket seats along with carbon-fiber exterior components. Without that package, getting the M2 xDrive close to $90,000 would be considerably more difficult.

The newly available Borusan Turkish Blue paint adds another $3,000. The color is technically a BMW Individual option, although BMW prominently features it in the configurator and early promotional material.

Wheels and Performance Options Add to the Price

The available 19- and 20-inch M Dual-Spoke Black 930M wheels cost an additional $1,300. They come with staggered track tires, reinforcing the M2 xDrive’s performance focus rather than turning the car into an all-weather grand tourer.

Although sending power to all four wheels should make it easier to put the M2’s performance to the ground, the added traction comes with the extra weight already associated with the xDrive system.

Smaller Options Quickly Add Up

Several lower-cost options contribute to the final price as well. An M Alcantara steering wheel costs $500, while heating it adds another $200. Remote Engine Start costs $300, Wireless Device Charging is $200 and M Shadowline Lights add $250.

Technology options include Distance Control, BMW’s adaptive cruise-control system, for $500. A Head-Up Display adds $1,100, while Parking Assistant costs $200.

With every factory option selected, the total comes to $17,450. Adding BMW’s $1,350 destination and handling charge produces the final $92,400 MSRP.

Is a $90,000 M2 xDrive Worth It?

A $92,400 M2 is serious money for a 2 Series, even considering that it is the first all-wheel-drive production M2. The fully equipped car costs 25.5% more than the base MSRP and moves into territory traditionally associated with BMW’s larger M models.

However, buyers do not need to spend anywhere near the maximum. Borusan Turkish Blue and the Carbon Package alone account for $12,900 of the options total, making them the easiest places to cut costs.

Removing those two options from an otherwise fully equipped M2 xDrive brings the price below $80,000 before destination and handling. That makes the $92,400 figure more of a configurator ceiling than a necessary purchase price.

There is also the possibility of another M2 variant arriving in the future, with rumors pointing toward another version being in the pipeline. For buyers considering the new xDrive model, that could make the decision about how much to spend—and whether to buy now—more complicated.
