Singer Vehicle Design has teamed up with Louis Vuitton to create two highly personalized Porsche 911s based on the 964, combining Singer’s approach to reimagined performance cars with Louis Vuitton craftsmanship and design. The collaboration produced a Classic coupe and a Classic Turbo Cabriolet, each receiving distinctive exterior, interior and accessory details.
A Porsche 911 Collaboration Unlike Most Others
There are countless ways to modify a Porsche 911, from leaving the car in its original configuration to extensively reworking it for track use or personal style. Singer takes that approach much further, and its latest collaboration with Louis Vuitton adds another layer of customization.
Both cars are based on the 964 and feature carbon-fiber bodies. Rather than covering the vehicles in obvious branding, the collaboration incorporates Louis Vuitton design elements throughout the cars in a more restrained way.
Two Distinctive Singer 911s
The first car is the Classic, a hardtop featuring a Louis Vuitton-inspired colorway across its carbon-fiber body. It also receives a custom roof rack designed to complement the rest of the vehicle.
The second is the Classic Turbo, which uses a cabriolet body style. Its white exterior is paired with teak-inspired wood accents, giving the car a more nautical character.
Louis Vuitton Brings Its Craftsmanship Inside
Louis Vuitton’s influence continues throughout the interiors. The fashion house worked on everything from the seats to the door panels, while a tinted windshield band incorporates subtle Louis Vuitton logos.
The dashboard fascia also references the partnership, while each car comes with a bespoke luggage set, a helmet and driving gloves. The driver also receives a made-to-measure suit made from parachute silk.
The centerpiece of the collaboration is the Tambour dashboard clock. The detachable mechanical timepiece was the starting point for the project and ultimately helped expand the collaboration into the broader personalization of the vehicles.
Jean Arnault, Louis Vuitton Watch Director, said: “This unique and remarkable adventure began with a request for a dashboard clock for a car reimagined by Singer. In addition to the design and production of this clock by La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton workshops in Switzerland, it quickly became apparent to us that this collaboration with Singer could extend to the personalization of every functional element of the vehicle, enhancing them through our expertise in leather craftsmanship and watchmaking.”
Modernized Performance Beneath the 964 Design
The two cars also receive modernized chassis technology intended to deliver handling capabilities beyond those of the original 964. Their carbon-fiber bodies are paired with different engines depending on the model.
The Classic uses a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter air-cooled flat-six engine. The Classic Turbo Cabriolet gets a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter air-cooled flat-six with air-to-water intercooling.
Both cars use six-speed manual transmissions and send power exclusively to the rear wheels. Carbon-ceramic brakes handle stopping duties.
No Price Has Been Announced
Neither finished vehicle has an announced price. However, the collaboration combines Singer’s extensive reworking of the Porsche 911 with Louis Vuitton’s design, leather craftsmanship and watchmaking expertise.
The result is two highly customized 964-based 911s that bring together automotive performance and luxury craftsmanship in a collaboration centered around the Tambour dashboard clock.
