Devin Booker is bringing his passion for vintage Chevrolet cars directly into his sneaker collection. The Phoenix Suns shooting guard, Nike and Chevrolet have unveiled the Book 2, a four-sneaker collection inspired by Booker’s personal lineup of vintage Chevrolet Impalas and designed to connect basketball performance with classic American automotive culture.
The Book 2 Draws From Booker’s Impala Collection
The new collection follows Booker’s previous collaboration with Chevrolet, which produced a Blazer sneaker release last year that sold out instantly. The Book 2 expands on that concept by drawing more extensively from the vintage cars in Booker’s garage.
Each sneaker colorway represents a different model year from Booker’s collection: a 1958, 1959, 1962 and 1963 Chevrolet Impala. Nike’s design team incorporated physical details inspired by the cars, including tongue tops designed to match the hood ornaments of the respective vehicles.
“Pretty Penny” Leads the Book 2 Collection
The centerpiece of the initial release is the “Pretty Penny,” which takes inspiration from Booker’s metallic 1959 Chevrolet Impala convertible. The car played a major role in Booker’s interest in vintage automobiles.
The first opportunity to purchase the sneaker will come in Detroit during the Woodward Dream Cruise. The “Pretty Penny” is scheduled for an exclusive early release on August 15, when Booker’s actual 1959 Impala will also appear alongside 40,000 vintage vehicles.
Detroit-area customers can use SNKRS Pass on August 14 to reserve a pair at Burn Rubber in Royal Oak, MI. The wider global release is scheduled for August 26, while the other three Impala-inspired colorways are set to arrive in December 2026.
Nike and Chevrolet Extend the Automotive Theme
The collaboration goes beyond the sneakers themselves. The Book 2 arrives in custom packaging designed to resemble mid-century Chevrolet packaging, using heavy kraft-paper construction with retro teal-and-orange graphics and oversized text.
The collection also includes a vintage-styled “Heartbeat of America” T-shirt that brings the automotive theme into the apparel portion of the collaboration.
A Crossover Between Basketball and Car Culture
The Book 2 reflects Booker’s personal connection to American automotive culture rather than simply adding Chevrolet branding to a sneaker. Scott Bell, VP of Global Chevrolet, emphasized the authenticity of the partnership and its connection between streetwear and Motor City history.
Cars have long been part of NBA culture, with players using their personal collections to express their identities away from the court. The Book 2 continues that connection by translating Booker’s vintage Chevrolet Impalas into a basketball sneaker collection.
With four Impala-inspired colorways, dedicated automotive details and a release schedule beginning with the Woodward Dream Cruise, the Book 2 makes Booker’s vintage-car passion a central part of his latest Nike collaboration.
