The new Hyundai Tucson has finally been revealed, giving U.S. buyers their first detailed look at the next-generation compact SUV. Hyundai’s best-selling model in the U.S. now adopts a more upright, boxier design inside and out, while key details about its powertrains, hybrid options and pricing remain undisclosed.

A Major Redesign for Hyundai’s Best-Seller

The Hyundai Tucson plays a critical role in the automaker’s U.S. lineup, where it competes with models such as the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V in the compact SUV segment.

For the new Tucson, Hyundai has moved away from the softer, more futuristic curves of the outgoing design in favor of a more squared-off appearance. The result is a more upright SUV shape that brings elements of the Santa Fe together with styling cues reminiscent of the Elantra.

New Tucson Gets a Boxier Exterior

The redesigned front end features a slim horizontal light bar stretching across the nose, with vertical lighting positioned at the outer edges. The grille and bumper are also more substantial, while the hood and fenders receive a more muscular appearance.

The squared-off design continues along the sides, where the Tucson features chunky wheel arches and sharper body lines. At the rear, slim vertical taillights are connected by a horizontal strip, while the tailgate maintains a clean and uncluttered appearance.

A More Modern Tucson Interior

Inside, the new Hyundai Tucson features a large touchscreen positioned prominently on the dashboard, along with a digital gauge cluster and a dashboard that extends across the cabin from door to door.

Wood-like trim and soft-touch materials add warmth to the interior, while the center console has been redesigned with a more open layout, additional storage and a cleaner arrangement of controls.

Powertrain and Pricing Details Remain Unknown

Hyundai has not yet revealed what will power the new Tucson. The automaker has also not disclosed its hybrid options or pricing.

The current gas-powered Tucson uses a 187-horsepower engine, but the new model’s powertrain lineup has not been confirmed. Electrified options remain a possibility, while the base engine could also receive additional power.

New Infotainment System Appears in the Cabin

The new Tucson also appears to feature Hyundai’s Pleos Connect infotainment system, which runs on Android Automotive. The large new display points to the updated system, although Hyundai has not yet provided all of the software details.

One confirmed interior detail is the presence of tactile buttons beneath the screen, matching Hyundai’s earlier promise to retain physical controls.

Fifth-Generation Tucson Coming to the U.S.

Hyundai is keeping additional details about the fifth-generation Tucson under wraps for now. The new model is expected to arrive in the U.S. next year, with more information expected to emerge before its arrival.
