The 2027 Silverado is set to arrive later this year, and Chevrolet is preparing to reveal the full specifications and pricing for its important full-size pickup. According to GM Authority, comprehensive vehicle specifications are expected on September 17, followed by pricing on September 18.
2027 Silverado Details Are Coming Soon
Chevrolet unveiled the 2027 Silverado in June 2026 but has not yet released its complete specifications or pricing. The upcoming information will give prospective buyers a clearer look at the truck and allow comparisons with rivals including the Ford F-150 and Ram 1500, neither of which is receiving a full redesign for the 2027 model year.
New Gen 6 V8 Engines Lead the Updates
One of the most significant changes for the 2027 Silverado will be under the hood. General Motors is introducing new Gen 6 small-block V8 engines, including the 5.7-liter L76 and 6.6-liter L78.
GM has not yet shared output figures for the new engines. However, the 2027 Corvette’s new Gen 6 V8 brings a power increase, and similar gains are expected in the Silverado.
The new engines will replace the 5.3-liter L84 and 6.2-liter L87. The latter has been linked to widespread failures and a major recall. GM says the new engines have undergone extensive testing to ensure they deliver the expected durability and dependability.
The enhanced 2.7-liter TurboMax L4B inline-four is also expected to receive a power increase and will now be paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The 3.0-liter Duramax turbodiesel inline-six is expected to carry over.
Silverado Trim Levels Change for 2027
Chevrolet is also changing the Silverado’s trim lineup for the new model year. The LT, RST and LTZ will be discontinued, although the LT will effectively be replaced by a new trim simply called Silverado.
The LT Trail Boss will become the Trail Boss. The Work Truck, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, ZR2 and High Country will return for 2027.
The Work Truck is reportedly set to receive a larger screen and additional standard safety features.
2027 Silverado Pricing Remains Unconfirmed
While official pricing is expected on September 18, the outgoing 2026 Silverado currently starts at $36,900 for the WT and $71,800 for the ZR2, excluding destination charges.
The upcoming pricing details will provide the first official look at what Chevrolet will charge for the 2027 Silverado across its updated lineup.
Silverado Production Could Also Change
The Silverado’s production plans could face changes as well. Reports indicate that the light-duty model may be dropped from GM’s Oshawa plant in Canada amid trade tensions between the U.S. and Canada.
What is expected, however, is that the Silverado 1500 will continue to be produced at GM’s Fort Wayne plant in Indiana and the Silao plant in Mexico.
With specifications expected on September 17 and pricing scheduled for the following day, Chevrolet is set to provide more details about the 2027 Silverado and its updated engine, transmission and trim lineup.
