BMW M and BMW M Motorrad will celebrate the Nürburgring’s 100th anniversary in 2027 with a special-edition lineup featuring six BMW M automobiles and three motorcycles, all finished with electric lime green paintwork inspired by the 12.9-mile course through the Black Forest.
BMW M Builds a Special Nürburgring Lineup
The 100 Jahre Nürburgring lineup represents a rare collaboration between BMW and BMW Motorrad, bringing together special editions of some of the automaker’s most performance-focused models.
The six BMW M cars include the M2 coupe, M3 sedan, M3 Touring, M4 coupe, M5 sedan, and M5 Touring. Each special edition features unique graphics carrying the tagline, “Born on the Racetrack. Made for the Streets.”
The package also includes a unique “100 Years” logo and a silhouette of the Nürburgring track map. The location of the track graphic varies depending on the model.
Nürburgring Green Sets the Special Editions Apart
The most visible connection between the special-edition BMW M cars is their neon Nürburgring Green finish. The color appears either across the bodywork or as an accent within the graphics, while the M cars are also available in Black Sapphire.
Nürburgring Green is also used on the wheel spokes. Each car receives a subtle gray stripe across the roof, rendered in steel on the station wagons and carbon fiber on the sedans and coupes.
Inside, the cars feature a 100 Jahre Nürburgring badge on the center console, along with black upholstery and green and white accent stitching.
BMW Motorrad Joins the Celebration
The special-edition treatment extends to three BMW Motorrad motorcycles: the M 1000 RR superbike, the slightly tamer M 1000 R, and the M 1000 XR sport-touring motorcycle.
Each motorcycle receives its own combination of black or green paint and graphics designed to match the special-edition BMW M cars. Visible carbon fiber and an Alcantara seat complete the changes.
The Nürburgring also holds particular importance for BMW Motorrad because it was the site of the motorcycle manufacturer’s first motorsports victory nearly 100 years ago.
Why the Nürburgring Matters to BMW
BMW says the Nürburgring is highly important to the automaker because every member of its current M lineup was developed there.
The 12.9-mile Nordschleife circuit is not only a famous motorsports venue but also a common testing site for performance cars still in development. Nearly every modern German car carrying an AMG, M, or RS designation has spent time on the track.
The Nürburgring’s influence extends beyond Germany. The first-generation Cadillac CTS-V, one of America’s first genuinely world-beating sport sedans, was developed in the Black Forest.
The track also inspired a special Lexus LFA variant and a high-performance SUV based on the RX, while Hyundai drew inspiration from the Nürburgring when establishing its high-performance tuning arm.
BMW Prepares for the Nürburgring’s 100th Anniversary
With six BMW M cars and three BMW Motorrad motorcycles, the 100 Jahre Nürburgring lineup brings the two BMW performance divisions together to commemorate the famous circuit’s 100th anniversary in 2027.
