BMW is giving new X5 owners more ways to personalize their luxury SUVs with a broad range of M Performance Parts available from launch. The upgrades add carbon fiber, sharper aerodynamic elements and larger wheels, with options also compatible with the fully electric iX5.
The catalog covers multiple powertrains and includes the plug-in hybrid M60e xDrive and standard 40 xDrive featured in BMW’s official images. The M Performance Parts are designed to give the X5 and iX5 a more aggressive appearance without moving up to a full M model.
BMW X5 M Performance Parts Add Carbon Fiber Throughout
The carbon fiber treatment extends across much of the SUV, including the kidney grille, mirror caps, front splitter and exhaust finishers.
At the front, M Performance trim pieces add a sporty carbon-fiber appearance to the surfaces inside the illuminated frames of the vertical Iconic Glow kidney grille. A three-piece carbon-fiber front splitter completes the look.
BMW says the splitter also serves an aerodynamic purpose while reducing weight, giving the exterior treatment a function beyond its visual impact.
The rear receives its own set of M Performance upgrades. BMW offers a high-gloss black M Performance roof spoiler and carbon-fiber “Flow Blades” positioned on either side of the rear diffuser. Together, the elements give the X5 and iX5 a sportier appearance without relying on an extensive collection of aftermarket-style additions.
Aramid-Fiber Components Keep Sensors Working
The exterior package also includes M Performance exterior mirror caps and a rear diffuser made from aramid fiber.
BMW says aramid fiber has a similar appearance, structure and strength to carbon fiber, but it provides an important advantage for these components: electromagnetic waves can pass through it.
That allows the sensors in the mirror caps and the antennas used for automatic tailgate operation to continue working normally.
BMW Offers 21- to 23-Inch M Performance Wheels
The M Performance catalog also includes complete summer and winter wheel sets ranging from 21 to 23 inches.
The standout option is a new 23-inch M Performance light-alloy wheel set called the Y-spoke 1110 M Bicolor. It features a Jet Black finish with gloss-milled surfaces, giving the already substantial X5 an even more imposing appearance.
The V8-Powered X5 M Performance Model Gets an Upgraded Exhaust
BMW is also preparing additional M Performance equipment for the upcoming V8-powered version of the X5.
The company confirms that the future V8-powered M Performance model will receive its own M Performance exhaust silencer system. The model is expected to be called the X5 M60 xDrive when it arrives sometime next year.
However, European enthusiasts will not receive the upgraded exhaust setup. BMW says the system will be offered only in markets outside the Old Continent because of regulatory requirements.
BMW also plans M Performance carbon-fiber tailpipe finishers for the V8-powered version. They are intended to enhance the appearance of the standard exhaust system and will also be available for the already revealed X5 M60e xDrive.
M Performance Parts Give the X5 a More Aggressive Look
These additions will not turn the X5 or iX5 into an M car, but that is not their purpose. The parts primarily give owners a way to make their SUVs look more aggressive and closer in appearance to a full X5 M.
For BMW, M Performance Parts have also become a revenue stream in recent years. The company’s latest X5 catalog expands that approach with a wide selection of exterior carbon-fiber components, aerodynamic pieces and wheel options.
