Geely has opened pre-sales for the Galaxy 700, its first SUV focused on off-road capability, and the response has been immediate. The Chinese automaker recorded 10,000 orders within nine minutes and reached 43,900 refundable pre-orders during the first hour.
The limited-production “Land Ark” launch edition, which is capped at 700 units, sold out almost instantly. Pre-sale pricing ranges from $29,400 for the base configuration to $57,300 for the top-tier specifications.
Galaxy 700 Brings 1,113 HP
The Galaxy 700 combines rugged exterior styling with Geely’s Thor EM-T electric hybrid system, a tri-motor all-wheel-drive setup and a choice of 1.5-liter or 2.0-liter turbocharged engines.
Total system output reaches 1,113 hp, allowing the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.95 seconds. The power figures are positioned above those of traditional rivals in the hardcore utility segment.
Energy comes from a 47.14 kWh CATL lithium iron phosphate battery, which supports 800V fast charging. Electric-only range is rated at around 190 miles under CLTC testing, while total combined range exceeds 745 miles.
Off-Road Hardware and Water Capability
The Galaxy 700 comes with a rear mechanical differential lock, 9 inches of ground clearance, a 30-degree approach angle and a 31-degree departure angle. Its maximum wading depth is 31 inches.
An active emergency floating mode allows the SUV to navigate water for up to 40 minutes if the wading depth is exceeded. The vehicle also features a “Waltz Turn” system that reduces its turning radius to 11 feet.
Its AI digital chassis manages 17 specialized driving modes, including a “Crab Walk” function designed to improve maneuverability in tight terrain. During development testing, the Galaxy 700 achieved a 50 mph moose test entry speed.
Technology-Focused Interior
The cabin features a five-screen display setup along with an 18.5-liter dual-opening refrigerator. The front seats offer 14-point massage functionality.
The combination of cabin technology and specialized driving modes gives the Galaxy 700 a broad range of features alongside its off-road equipment.
Geely Galaxy 700 Targets a Growing Segment
The Galaxy 700 is currently tailored for the domestic market, but its early sales performance highlights the pace of development among Chinese automakers.
Geely’s parent conglomerate already has a presence in the U.S. market through ownership of established premium brands including Volvo, Polestar and Lotus.
Automotive reporters who recently tested Geely vehicles noted that the company’s assembly quality and overall chassis dynamics have steadily met global standards.
Could the Galaxy 700 Reach the U.S.?
The Galaxy 700’s combination of high horsepower, off-road capability and cabin technology shows how quickly electrified off-road vehicles are developing.
For established North American truck and utility manufacturers, the vehicle’s early volume figures reflect broader changes in consumer demand. As hybrid and electric architectures mature, expectations for vehicle capability, onboard power and chassis electronics are rising.
The Galaxy 700 is not currently positioned for the U.S. market, and current tariffs and trade regulations effectively block Chinese vehicles from the country. Its specifications and pricing nevertheless establish a benchmark that could influence competitive strategy across the global segment.
