New Mitsubishi Pajero Reportedly Set for Global Debut on September 2

The new Mitsubishi Pajero could make its long-awaited global debut on September 2, according to a report citing Japanese dealers. While Mitsubishi has already confirmed the iconic SUV will return after years away from the market, the reported unveiling date would provide the clearest timeline yet for its official reveal.

Global Reveal Reportedly Planned for September 2

According to information from Japanese dealers, via Best Car, Mitsubishi is preparing to unveil the new Pajero globally on September 2. The reported event is expected to mark the SUV’s official debut rather than the beginning of customer deliveries.

Until now, Mitsubishi had only indicated that the Pajero would launch sometime this year, without providing a specific date.

What Mitsubishi Has Revealed So Far

Earlier this year, Mitsubishi offered the first official look inside the new Pajero by displaying its cabin during an event. The preview showed a light-colored interior on at least one upcoming variant.

The SUV is also expected to bring back a proper low-range transfer case. It is expected to feature Mitsubishi’s Super Select four-wheel-drive system along with a digital three-pronged clinometer, reinforcing the model’s focus on off-road capability.

Under the body, the new Pajero is expected to share the latest Triton pickup’s ladder-frame platform. That architecture is expected to provide increased durability while incorporating the pickup’s newer technologies and powertrain options.

More Details Expected at the Official Debut

Mitsubishi has not announced pricing for the new Pajero. However, the reported September 2 event is expected to reveal the SUV’s exterior design, full interior, trim levels, and key features.

Customers in Japan interested in reserving the vehicle are expected to wait until after the official unveiling.

Will the New Mitsubishi Pajero Come to the U.S.?

The SUV’s North American future remains uncertain. Japan, Australia, and much of Asia are widely expected to receive the new Pajero, also known as the Montero in some markets, before any potential U.S. launch.

Reports also indicate that Mitsubishi dealers in the United States have already received a private preview of the SUV. While that suggests the automaker is considering bringing the model to the U.S. market, there has been no confirmation of an American launch.

With the reported world premiere now approaching, the September 2 event is expected to provide a clearer picture of the new Mitsubishi Pajero’s global rollout and whether the SUV will eventually reach American buyers.
