Bentley has created a three-vehicle edition based on the Continental GT S and GTC S to honor Polish Renaissance polymath Nicolaus Copernicus and his heliocentric model of the astronomical system.
In 1543, Copernicus proposed that Earth was not the center of the universe but instead revolved around the sun, prompting a major rethinking of physics and causing significant consternation for Catholicism.
Bentley’s Copernicus Collection Takes Inspiration From the Planets
The Nicolaus Copernicus Collection draws directly from the imagery associated with his iconic heliocentric astronomical system, along with broader planetary iconography.
The centerpiece connecting all three vehicles is the “Copernicus Diagram,” an eight-piece luminary design motif representing Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.
Each vehicle in the collection is also themed around one of three celestial bodies: the sun, the moon and Earth.
The Sun Car Is Finished in Manuka Orange
The sun-themed vehicle is a Continental GTC S finished in Manuka Orange. Its Gravity Grey interior features orange stitching and Copper Stone veneer inlays.
The design uses the vehicle’s exterior and interior finishes to reinforce its place within the three-car Copernicus Collection.
The Moon Car Gets a Bespoke Silver Finish
The Moon car is a Continental GT S Coupe painted in bespoke Moonstruck silver. Inside, the primary color is Beluga.
Ice-color leather adds contrast throughout the cabin, appearing on the outer elements of the seats and headrests, the center console, dashboard leather and door inlay stripes.
The Earth Car Embraces Blue
The Earth-themed vehicle is another Continental GT S Coupe, with its design dominated by blue tones to reflect the fact that approximately 70% of Earth is covered in water.
Its exterior is finished in bespoke Nebula Blue paint, while the interior combines Agean Blue with Imperial Blue as a secondary leather color.
Galaxy Stone veneer, chrome highlighting and silver seat piping provide contrast inside the cabin. A satin-painted center console in Imperial Blue further emphasizes the Earth theme.
Copernicus Collection Adds Bespoke Details
Bentley says each collector’s edition vehicle includes bespoke tread plates, an individual fragrance and a key box.
The collection also includes pocket squares and scarves inspired by the Copernicus Collection, along with a special music playlist available on Spotify that Bentley says “underlines the unique luxury experience.”
The three vehicles bring together the sun, moon and Earth themes while using bespoke colors, materials and details throughout the collection.
