The Nissan Sentra Spec-V concept brings high-performance engineering and classic sport compact character to SEMA 2026. Inspired by the legendary Sentra SE-R, the concept transforms the current Sentra into a 300-horsepower performance sedan featuring a six-speed manual transmission, upgraded suspension, and brakes from the GT-R NISMO. Nissan has not announced plans to put the concept into production.
From the Original Sentra SE-R to the Spec-V Concept
The original Nissan Sentra SE-R debuted with the B13 generation in the early 1990s, establishing itself as more than an ordinary compact sedan. Its 140-horsepower SR20DE engine, independent suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, and viscous limited-slip differential helped it compete with more expensive performance cars.
Thirty-five years later, the Sentra Spec-V concept revisits that legacy at SEMA 2026. The project pays tribute to the enthusiasts who helped make the SE-R a recognizable name in the import performance scene while giving the current Sentra a substantially more aggressive character.
Instead of focusing exclusively on cosmetic upgrades, the concept combines performance components and inspiration from two distinct Nissan models: the GT-R and the Juke NISMO RS. The result is a compact sedan with motorsport-inspired styling and extensive mechanical modifications.
A Turbocharged Engine Produces Up to 300 Horsepower
Under the hood, the Sentra Spec-V concept features a turbocharged MR20DD 2.0-liter engine producing up to 300 horsepower at the wheels. The setup includes a Garrett G25-550 turbocharger and a front-mounted Garrett intercooler.
Additional engine upgrades include forged Carrillo connecting rods, JE pistons, upgraded internal components, and extra port injection. Supporting modifications include an AEM fuel pump and a custom Jim Wolf Technologies intake manifold spacer designed to accommodate the secondary injectors.
The combination of forced induction and upgraded engine components gives the concept a significantly more powerful setup than a conventional compact sedan.
Six-Speed Manual Transmission and Limited-Slip Differential
Power is delivered through a six-speed manual transmission sourced from the Juke NISMO RS and strengthened for the application. The drivetrain also includes a helical limited-slip differential, lightweight flywheel, upgraded clutch, and short-throw shifter.
These components emphasize driver engagement, pairing a manual gearbox with hardware designed to support the concept’s increased power output.
Track-Tuned Suspension and GT-R NISMO Brakes
The Sentra Spec-V concept receives a comprehensive suspension upgrade featuring NISMO coilovers tuned for track use. The setup includes beefier front shocks with external reservoirs, stiffer springs, and track-focused damping. NISMO sway bars complete the suspension package.
Braking performance receives an upgrade with components from the R35 GT-R NISMO. The system features six-piston Brembo calipers at the front and four-piston units at the rear, paired with large two-piece rotors.
The car rides on NISMO LM-RS1 forged 19-inch wheels wrapped in 265-section Yokohama ADVAN NEOVA AD09 tires.
Widebody Kit and Motorsport-Inspired Exterior
The exterior features a BOMEX widebody kit that gives the Sentra a more aggressive stance. A functional vented hood, custom side-exit exhaust, and GT-R NISMO rear spoiler further distinguish the concept from the standard sedan.
The modifications create a motorsport-inspired appearance that reflects the car’s extensive performance upgrades.
GT-R NISMO Seats and a Track-Focused Interior
Inside, the Sentra Spec-V concept features GT-R NISMO Recaro bucket seats up front, a NISMO steering wheel, blacked-out trim, and a harness bar.
The cabin prioritizes track use over luxury, matching the performance-focused approach seen throughout the rest of the vehicle.
Will the Nissan Sentra Spec-V Reach Production?
Nissan has not announced production plans for the Sentra Spec-V concept. Its combination of 300 horsepower at the wheels, a six-speed manual transmission, a limited-slip differential, track-tuned suspension, and GT-R NISMO braking hardware offers an aggressive take on the sport compact sedan.
The concept revisits the philosophy behind the original Sentra SE-R, which delivered performance in a compact sedan without requiring buyers to choose a dedicated sports car. The Spec-V takes that idea further by combining the current Sentra platform with extensive performance modifications and components inspired by Nissan’s high-performance models.
For now, the Sentra Spec-V remains a concept showcasing a performance-focused interpretation of the compact sedan and paying tribute to the SE-R legacy at SEMA 2026.
