The Project Colossus 6×6 combines the vintage appearance of a classic Dodge Power Wagon with the modern performance of a heavily modified 2021 Ram 1500 TRX. The custom six-wheel-drive truck features a 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8 producing a claimed 1,000 horsepower and is listed for $599,950.
Project Colossus Gives the Ram TRX a Vintage Power Wagon Look
The Ram TRX has become a popular foundation for six-wheel-drive conversions, including the Mammoth 1000 6×6 and Warlord 6×6. However, those builds retain much of the original pickup’s styling.
Project Colossus takes a different approach by combining the mechanical foundation of a 2021 Ram 1500 TRX with custom bodywork inspired by the classic Dodge Power Wagon.
The result is a four-door crew-cab pickup with a distinctly vintage appearance, despite its modern underpinnings and substantial performance upgrades.
Supercharged Hemi V8 Delivers a Claimed 1,000 Horsepower
Under the hood, Project Colossus features a 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8 with a claimed output of 1,000 horsepower. That represents an increase of approximately 298 horsepower over the standard engine.
The modified truck also exceeds the output of the latest Ram TRX, which produces 777 horsepower from the factory, compared with the Ford F-150 Raptor R’s 720-horsepower rating.
The additional power comes from Stage-3 upgrades, which include upgraded valve springs and pushrods, a 108mm throttle body and ID1050x fuel injectors, among other modifications.
Six-Wheel-Drive System Adds Three Driving Modes
Project Colossus uses a full-time BorgWarner transfer case with three available operating modes: 6WD Auto, 6WD High and 6WD Low.
The six-wheel-drive configuration is designed to provide better traction and improved weight distribution, potentially helping the truck handle challenging off-road conditions.
However, the additional drivetrain complexity could also bring higher maintenance costs and worse fuel economy compared with a standard Ram 1500 TRX.
Custom Bodywork Revives the Classic Dodge Power Wagon
Much of Project Colossus’ appeal comes from its exterior design. The custom four-door crew cab and bodywork draw inspiration from the early Dodge Power Wagon introduced in the 1940s.
The original Power Wagon was Dodge’s first mass-produced civilian four-wheel-drive truck. Its design drew inspiration from the company’s World War II military trucks, and it was developed primarily for farmers, construction workers, utility companies and other businesses.
Project Colossus revisits that classic appearance while using the considerably more modern mechanical components of the Ram 1500 TRX.
Project Colossus 6×6 Carries a $599,950 Asking Price
The custom truck is listed for $599,950 and already has 10,202 miles on its odometer.
For comparison, the asking price is roughly equivalent to the cost of six new 2027 Ram 1500 SRT TRXs. However, those standard trucks do not offer the same six-wheel-drive configuration or vintage-inspired bodywork.
Modern Ram Power Wagon Continues Into the 2027 Model Year
Although the original military-style Dodge Power Wagon is no longer part of the lineup, the name continues in the Ram 2500 range.
For years, the modern Power Wagon has been available with a 6.4-liter Hemi V8. For the 2027 model year, a 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel inline-six is also available, providing buyers with an alternative offering significantly more torque and higher towing and payload capacities.
With its claimed 1,000 horsepower, six-wheel-drive system and 1940s-inspired styling, Project Colossus combines classic Power Wagon design with heavily modified Ram TRX performance at an asking price of $599,950.
