Honda Marks 15 Million Accord Sales in the U.S.
The 15 millionth Honda Accord sold in the United States was a 2026 Accord Sport-L Hybrid purchased by a Southern California customer named Andrea. On the same day, her younger sister purchased another Accord, becoming the owner of the 15,000,001st Accord sold in the U.S.
According to Honda, the Accord is America’s best-selling passenger car over the past 50 years. The company also reports that more than 13 million Accord vehicles have been built in Ohio since U.S. production began in 1982.
Honda Celebrates the Accord’s 50th Anniversary
The sales milestone coincides with the Accord’s 50th anniversary, marking another chapter in one of Honda’s longest-running nameplates.
“On behalf of Honda associates here in America and worldwide, I want to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude to the 15 million customers who purchased an Accord, including Andrea and Alondra,” said Jessika Laudermilk, assistant vice president of Honda National Auto Sales at American Honda Motor Co., Inc.
“As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Accord, together with Honda dealers nationwide, we are committed to building on the quality, reliability and enduring fun-to-drive spirit of Accord for the next 50 years,” Laudermilk added.
Hybrid Models Now Represent More Than Half of Accord Sales
Honda attributes the Accord’s long-term success to qualities including durability, efficiency, value, safety, and reliability. According to the company, the latest generation continues that approach while adding new technology.
The automaker also says hybrid models now account for more than half of all Accord sales, reflecting changing buyer preferences within the lineup.
Accord’s Success Extends Beyond Honda
The article notes that the Accord’s sustained popularity has had an impact beyond Honda’s own sales. It suggests that hybrid demand may have influenced Toyota’s decision to make every Camry a hybrid.
The article also states that the continued success of the Accord and Camry has likely contributed to Kia and Hyundai offering warranty coverage that exceeds Toyota and Honda by several years and miles.
With 15 million units sold in the United States, more than 13 million built in Ohio since 1982, and hybrid models now representing the majority of sales, the Honda Accord continues to be one of the automotive industry’s longest-running and most successful passenger cars.
