The Pajero has taken another step toward its official return, with Mitsubishi offering the first brief look inside the SUV through a promotional video released on its official YouTube channel. While the company continues to keep most interior details under wraps, the footage provides an early glimpse of a more refined cabin ahead of the model’s scheduled debut this fall.
First Look Inside the New Pajero
Mitsubishi has already confirmed that its iconic body-on-frame SUV will be unveiled this fall and has gradually released teaser images highlighting the exterior. Until now, however, the interior had remained hidden.
That changed during a promotional video recapping Star Camp 2026 in Asagiri Kogen, where a select group of attendees was given an up-close look at the new flagship SUV. Although the video largely avoids revealing the cabin, a brief frame offers the first glimpse inside.
The visible portion of the interior suggests a significant upgrade over previous Pajero models. The cabin appears to feature a black-and-beige color scheme, while the door panels include stitched trim that points to a more premium finish. Even with the limited view, the design indicates Mitsubishi is aiming for a more refined interior while maintaining the SUV’s rugged identity.
Early Reactions Highlight Comfort and Luxury
According to the promotional video, attendees who viewed the new Pajero in person responded positively. In comments roughly translated from Japanese, guests said the SUV looked even better in person, describing it as stylish and praising its combination of strength and sophistication.
Those who were able to sit inside also highlighted the spacious cabin, comfortable seats, and an overall impression of luxury.
Mitsubishi did not disclose technical specifications during the event, but the early feedback suggests the new Pajero is designed to deliver comfort for everyday driving and long-distance travel while retaining its off-road capability.
Built on the Triton Platform
The new Pajero is based on the Triton pickup’s ladder-frame chassis. Mitsubishi is also making changes to the suspension and cabin to further distinguish the SUV as the brand’s flagship model.
The company is pairing the platform’s off-road capability with improvements intended to provide a more comfortable ride on paved roads. The SUV is also expected to be offered in three variants.
What About the U.S. Market?
Interest continues to grow around a possible North American launch. According to the report, Mitsubishi dealers in the United States have already received an early preview of the SUV, where it is expected to carry the Montero name.
Dealers reportedly described it as a premium, boxy flagship equipped with modern technology. However, an American launch has not been officially confirmed, and Mitsubishi has not announced plans for a U.S. release.
With its official unveiling scheduled for this fall, Mitsubishi continues to reveal only limited details about the returning Pajero, while the latest promotional footage offers the clearest look yet at the SUV’s upgraded interior.
