The Range Rover GT has been officially teased ahead of its full debut later this year, introducing a new addition to the Range Rover lineup. Designed as a fully electric grand tourer, the model combines a new design direction, an all-new interior, and JLR’s EMA platform while retaining the capability associated with the Range Rover brand.
Range Rover Expands Its Lineup
The Range Rover GT becomes the fifth member of the Range Rover family, joining the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Velar, and Range Rover Evoque.
Unlike the brand’s traditional SUVs, the GT has been developed as a grand touring vehicle focused on long-distance comfort while continuing to carry the Range Rover identity.
First Model Built on JLR’s EMA Platform
The Range Rover GT is the first vehicle to use JLR’s new EMA platform. It will launch exclusively as a fully electric vehicle, although the platform has also been designed to support a future hybrid version.
While the model is primarily intended for paved roads, Range Rover says it will still offer off-road capability.
A New Design Direction
Although the prototype remains covered in camouflage, its overall shape is clearly visible. The Range Rover GT adopts a lower roofline, a fastback-style rear, and smoother body surfaces that give it the appearance of a luxury grand tourer.
The front design features angular styling, while the overall silhouette represents one of the most car-like designs ever introduced by the Range Rover brand.
Minimalist Interior Focuses on Comfort
Inside, the cabin follows a minimalist layout centered around a large floating touchscreen and a slim digital driver display. Traditional instrument gauges have been replaced by digital displays.
A concealed air vent stretches across the dashboard, while woven fabric covers the upper dash and integrates the speakers. The cabin also includes soft leather, metal trim, a two-spoke steering wheel, and a sculpted center console.
Range Rover says the interior was designed to reduce visual clutter and cabin noise, creating what it describes as a calm sanctuary for long-distance travel.
Powertrain Details Remain Under Wraps
Range Rover has not yet released technical specifications for the GT, including performance figures, battery capacity, or driving range.
Prototype vehicles are currently undergoing testing while wearing camouflage inspired by the hills surrounding Gaydon, where the Range Rover development team is based. The gold digital camouflage pattern is intended to reference both the terrain and the vehicle’s technology.
Official Launch Planned for 2027
Managing Director Martin Limpert said the goal was to reinterpret the grand touring concept in “a sophisticated, uniquely Range Rover way,” combining effortless electric vehicle performance, long-distance refinement, and capability that traditional grand tourers cannot provide.
Range Rover is expected to reveal complete specifications for the GT later this year, with the model scheduled to reach the market in 2027.
