The 2027 Toyota Sequoia has received a light refresh, expanding the full-size SUV lineup with a new Trailhunter trim while introducing updated styling and additional standard technology. The latest changes follow the recent refresh of the 2027 Toyota Tundra and are scheduled to reach production this fall.
Trailhunter Joins the 2027 Toyota Sequoia Lineup
Toyota has added the Trailhunter grade to the 2027 Toyota Sequoia lineup, giving buyers a new full-size, three-row SUV designed for overlanding. The new model joins the existing SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition, TRD Pro, and Capstone trims.
Built on the SR5, the Sequoia Trailhunter features exclusive badging, a different terrain mode selection, Crawl Control, and a locking rear differential. Additional equipment includes front recovery hooks, extra underbody shielding, Old Man Emu shocks, and bronze wheels wrapped in Michelin LTX Trail 265/70R18 tires.
Updated Exterior Design
Across the 2027 Toyota Sequoia range, Toyota has introduced a revised front-end design that it says “looks well-tailored and premium while remaining rugged and confident.”
The SUV also receives an updated LED light bar mounted on the grille. As before, the light bar operates only when the high beams are activated.
Technology Upgrades Become Standard
The 14.0-inch central touchscreen is now standard across every 2027 Toyota Sequoia model, replacing its previous status as an optional feature.
The upgraded infotainment system also includes a built-in Drive Recorder dash camera. Once activated, the vehicle’s exterior cameras can capture 20-second video clips either manually or when triggered by specific events.
Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 is also included across the lineup.
Powertrain and Production Timeline
Toyota did not release pricing or detailed specifications as part of Thursday’s announcement.
The automaker is expected to continue offering the iForce Max hybrid twin-turbocharged V-6 used in the 2026 Sequoia, which is rated at a claimed 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque. Trailhunter models have historically not received additional power.
Production of the 2027 Toyota Sequoia is scheduled to begin this fall, with Toyota saying more details will be announced at that time.
The refresh brings a new off-road-focused Trailhunter model, expanded standard technology, and subtle exterior updates while maintaining the Sequoia’s established lineup and production schedule.
