GM Launches Cadillac Optiq Windshield Repair Program for Heat-Related Foam Seal Issue

General Motors has launched a customer satisfaction program to address a windshield foam-seal issue affecting a limited number of 2025 and 2026 Cadillac Optiq electric vehicles. The initiative follows reports that high temperatures may cause delamination of the windshield foam seal, with repairs and inspections provided at no cost to eligible owners.

GM Issues Customer Satisfaction Program for Cadillac Optiq

General Motors issued Customer Satisfaction Program N252534680 to dealerships earlier this month, outlining inspection and repair procedures for the Cadillac Optiq windshield foam seal.

According to the program, only a small number of 2025–2026 model-year Cadillac Optiq vehicles are expected to require repairs. The announcement comes as the Optiq became Cadillac’s best-selling electric vehicle during the second quarter of this year, surpassing the Lyriq.

How Dealers Will Inspect and Repair the Issue

Dealerships have been instructed to inspect the windshield foam seal for signs of delamination. Vehicles that do not show the condition will not require any additional work.

If the defect is found, technicians will remove the instrument panel extension and the existing foam seal before cleaning the adhesive from the surface with isopropyl alcohol.

After removing adhesive residue, dust, and debris, a new foam seal will be installed. A roller will then be used to apply pressure and activate the adhesive to ensure the replacement seal is properly positioned and bonded. The repair is completed by reinstalling the instrument panel extension.

Repair Time and Owner Information

GM estimates that the complete inspection and repair process will take approximately 1.4 hours, or one hour and 24 minutes. Vehicles requiring only an inspection because the foam seal remains intact are expected to take about 0.1 hours, or roughly six minutes.

The repair will be performed free of charge for eligible Cadillac Optiq owners. The customer satisfaction program will remain in effect through Aug. 31, 2028, after which any applicable warranty coverage will apply.

The program also states that repairs must be completed by an authorized EV dealer and performed by a technician who has completed the required technical training. Owners are advised to confirm that their selected dealership is EV-certified before scheduling service.

Cadillac Optiq Model Availability

Although the customer satisfaction program applies only to 2025 and 2026 model-year Cadillac Optiq vehicles, the 2027 model is already available to order.

As Cadillac’s entry-level electric vehicle, the Optiq starts at $50,900 before destination charges. Pricing can reach approximately $89,000 for the performance-focused Optiq-V equipped with available options.

The customer satisfaction program is limited to the specified 2025 and 2026 Cadillac Optiq models and provides eligible owners with inspections and, when necessary, repairs at no charge through Aug. 31, 2028.
