Ram is voluntarily recalling more than 1.2 million vehicles in the United States after identifying a defect involving second-row seat-belt buckle anchors. The recall affects certain 2019–2026 Ram 1500 models and addresses a condition that could reduce seat-belt performance during a crash.
Ram Issues Voluntary Recall for Certain 2019–2026 Ram 1500 Models
Stellantis announced a voluntary recall covering 1,271,294 Ram 1500 trucks in the U.S. because the second-row center and/or second-row driver-side seat-belt buckle anchor may not be properly attached to the vehicle’s body structure.
Because the action is voluntary, it may not yet appear in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) database.
Improper Seat-Belt Attachment May Increase Injury Risk
According to Stellantis, if the seat-belt buckle anchor is not properly attached, the second-row seat-belt system may not perform as intended during a crash. This condition could increase the risk of injury to occupants.
The Ram 1500 regular cab, which does not include second-row seating, was discontinued after the 2019 model year following the truck’s major redesign, although it briefly continued as the 1500 Classic. Stellantis did not identify which body styles are affected, but the current-generation Ram 1500 is offered in Quad Cab and Crew Cab configurations.
Recall Extends Beyond the United States
In addition to the 1,271,294 affected vehicles in the United States, the recall includes approximately 156,138 vehicles in Canada, 15,088 in Mexico, and 74,084 vehicles outside North America.
The Ram 1500 is also sold in markets including Europe through distribution partners.
Dealers Will Inspect and Repair Vehicles at No Cost
Stellantis said it will notify affected owners and instruct them to schedule an appointment with an authorized dealership.
Dealers will inspect the second-row center and driver-side seat-belt buckle anchors and, if necessary, properly attach them to the vehicle’s body structure at no cost to customers. The company did not provide owner notification dates.
Recall Comes as Ram Pursues Growth Targets
The recall comes as Ram is expected to play a larger role in Stellantis’ FaSTLAne 2030 plan. Stellantis has set a goal of reaching 825,000 annual Ram sales by 2030, representing a 60% increase from last year and approximately 85,000 more units than its Jeep target.
The company also plans to expand the Ram lineup with additional pickup models, including the Dakota and Rampage. The recall is intended to address the seat-belt buckle-anchor issue while affected vehicles receive inspections and repairs.
