The 2027 Chevy Trailblazer could have an unusually short production run before Chevrolet introduces an updated model for 2028. Sources familiar with the matter cited by GM Authority say the 2027 Trailblazer will reportedly remain in production for just three months, although Chevrolet has not officially announced the change.
2027 Chevy Trailblazer Could Be a Stopgap Model
The South Korea-made subcompact crossover is reportedly set for a series of updates for the 2028 model year. Until then, the 2027 Trailblazer appears positioned as a stopgap model.
Launched in 2021, the current Trailblazer received a mid-cycle facelift in 2024 that brought refreshed styling, a redesigned cabin and improved technology features. The rest of the model has remained largely unchanged since its launch.
The 137-horsepower turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder LBP gasoline engine was initially expected to be dropped for 2027. However, the engine is now expected to remain available in the 2027 Chevy Trailblazer LS and LT trims when paired with front-wheel drive.
The 155-horsepower turbocharged 1.3-liter three-cylinder L3T will continue to be offered with both front- and all-wheel drive. The base 1.2-liter engine is expected to be discontinued for the 2028 model year, which is expected to bring a range of improvements.
2027 Trailblazer Keeps Four Trim Levels
For 2027, the Chevy Trailblazer will continue with four trim levels: LS, LT, RS and Activ. Buyers will have three powertrain and drivetrain combinations available.
- 1.2-liter engine with front-wheel drive
- 1.3-liter engine with front-wheel drive
- 1.3-liter engine with all-wheel drive
Chevrolet Simplifies the 2027 Trailblazer Lineup
The 2027 Trailblazer lineup will also feature several ordering restrictions that simplify how certain options can be configured.
The Confidence Package (RPO code WPN) and Convenience Package (RPO code WPG) must now be ordered together. For the 2026 model year, the two packages could be ordered separately.
LT buyers who choose the Midnight Edition (WJP) with the 1.2-liter engine and front-wheel drive must also select the Driver Confidence Package (ZL5), Cold Weather Package (Y19) and Convenience Package (ZL3).
For LT models equipped with the Midnight Edition and the more powerful 1.3-liter engine, the Driver Confidence Package, Cold Weather Package and Convenience Package will also be bundled with the power sunroof (C3U). The Midnight Edition was a standalone option for 2026.
RS and Activ Trim Restrictions
For the RS trim, the Adaptive Cruise & Sound Package (CWN) will be bundled with the Driver Confidence Package (ZL5), Convenience Package (ZL3) and power sunroof (C3U). Previously, only the Driver Confidence Package and Convenience Package were required.
All Activ trim models will require the Driver Confidence Package and Convenience Package, while the power sunroof will remain optional.
2027 Chevy Trailblazer Pricing Remains Unannounced
Chevrolet has not released pricing information for the 2027 Trailblazer. The 2026 model currently starts at $25,095, including the $1,795 destination freight charge.
For now, the 2027 Chevy Trailblazer is expected to carry forward the existing trim and powertrain structure while introducing several ordering restrictions, with a potentially brief production run ahead of anticipated changes for the 2028 model year.
