Ford is expanding its AI Assistant beyond the vehicle itself, giving Ford and Lincoln owners access to an AI-powered expert through their smartphone apps. The latest update is designed to provide personalized information about a specific vehicle, troubleshooting help, vehicle status updates and other assistance wherever the owner is.
Ford AI Assistant Comes to the App
Ford has announced a wider rollout of its latest AI Assistant, which is integrated into the Ford or Lincoln app. The company describes the feature as having an expert on your car sitting right in your pocket, ready to answer questions at a moment’s notice.
The assistant can provide details tailored to a specific vehicle model, allowing owners to learn more about the features and capabilities included with their car.
Vehicle Features, Troubleshooting and Status Updates
The Ford AI Assistant includes several features aimed at making vehicle ownership easier. It can identify which features a vehicle is equipped with, including BlueCruise, provide information about cargo space and explain how to use tow or haul mode.
The assistant can also offer troubleshooting tips for minor issues, including situations where windows keep bouncing back up. Owners can additionally use it to check vehicle status notifications, such as fuel and charge levels.
Another capability is decoding warning lights and providing alerts when service is due, giving owners access to vehicle-related information through the app.
Ford and Lincoln AI Assistant Coming to Select Vehicles
The app update is not the only AI-related change planned by Ford. By 2027, the Ford and Lincoln AI Assistant will be integrated into select Ford and Lincoln vehicles.
Ford says the system will go beyond simple phone mirroring, describing it as a deep and thoughtful intelligence embedded directly into the driving experience.
Google Gemini to Expand In-Car Voice Assistance
Before Ford’s in-house AI Assistant arrives in 2027, Ford and Lincoln owners will be able to use an updated voice-assistance feature that incorporates Google Gemini as an alternative to the current Google Assistant.
The updated option is designed to provide more in-depth and more natural conversations between the car and its driver, adding another layer to Ford’s broader push toward AI-integrated vehicle experiences.
