The Genesis GV90 is nearing its debut, and a Korean certification filing has revealed key details about the flagship electric SUV, including its battery capacity, dual-motor setup, weight and driving range.
Genesis GV90 Nears Its Flagship EV Debut
The Genesis GV90 is positioned to become the brand’s new flagship EV, sitting above the GV80 as the largest and most luxurious SUV in the lineup. The model draws heavily from the Neolun Concept, while camouflaged prototypes have already provided glimpses of the production vehicle ahead of Genesis taking the wraps off later this month.
Now, a Korean certification filing dated August 10 provides additional details. The documents, unearthed by the Korean Car Blog, reveal specifications for the GV90’s battery, motors, weight and local driving range.
Genesis GV90 Certification Filing Reveals Key Specs
The certification documents list the GV90 with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. The front motor produces 240 kW (322 hp), while the rear motor delivers 250 kW (335 hp).
The Korean Car Blog claims the combined system output is 490 kW, or 657 hp. However, that figure should not be treated as definitive because adding the individual motor outputs does not necessarily determine total system output.
The battery is listed at 703 volts and 175.7 Ah, resulting in roughly 123.5 kWh of total capacity. Previously reported usable capacity is around 115 kWh.
The GV90 also carries substantial weight. The certification documents list a 6,680-pound curb weight and an 8,080-pound gross vehicle weight rating.
GV90 Range Reaches Nearly 300 Miles
On South Korea’s combined driving cycle, the Genesis GV90 is rated for 299 miles of range. The rating rises to 312 miles for city driving and falls to 282 miles on the highway.
In cold conditions, the combined range rating drops to 268 miles.
The certification database also identifies both six- and seven-seat configurations, along with a choice of 22- or 24-inch wheels. All the listed variants receive the same 299-mile combined rating.
However, the certification filing does not cover the entire GV90 lineup. The available specifications apply only to certain trims, meaning motors, wheels, weights, batteries and range figures could differ depending on the market and configuration.
The Genesis GV90 Brings Neolun Design to Production
Beyond the newly revealed specifications, the GV90 is expected to bring much of the Neolun Concept’s distinctive design into production. Spied prototypes have confirmed the presence of coach doors, while early sightings have pointed to a three-row cabin focused on moving the full-size SUV further into the luxury segment.
The certification filing fills in several previously unknown details about Genesis’ flagship EV, including its battery, powertrain, weight and range. Final specifications, pricing and the extent of the Neolun Concept’s influence on the production model are expected to be addressed when Genesis unveils the vehicle later this month.
