Nissan is expanding its Rock Creek lineup with its smallest adventure-focused model yet. The new 2027 Nissan Kicks Rock Creek adds rugged styling, standard all-wheel drive and dedicated off-road features to the subcompact crossover, giving buyers a more adventurous alternative in a segment with limited off-road competition.
Nissan Expands the Rock Creek Lineup
Nissan introduced the Rock Creek nameplate on the Pathfinder in 2021 before expanding it to the Rogue. The 2027 Kicks becomes the third Nissan model to receive the treatment.
The new trim is aimed at drivers who want a more rugged daily vehicle without moving into a larger SUV. Nissan says the Rock Creek adds trail-ready styling and additional capability while retaining the Kicks’ focus on value and everyday usability.
Can the Kicks Rock Creek Really Go Off-Road?
The Kicks Rock Creek is not designed to compete directly with body-on-frame off-road SUVs, but Nissan has equipped it with several features intended to improve its capability away from paved roads.
Nissan claims the model offers 8.4 inches of ground clearance. The Rock Creek also receives an exclusive Off-Road driving mode and Hill Descent Control, which helps regulate the vehicle’s speed when traveling down steep declines.
All Kicks models use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 141 horsepower and 140 pound-feet of torque, paired with a continuously variable transmission. Front-wheel drive is available across much of the lineup, but the Rock Creek is offered exclusively with all-wheel drive.
Rugged Styling Sets the Rock Creek Apart
The Kicks already has a sporty exterior, but the Rock Creek adds design elements intended to give the small crossover a tougher appearance.
The model rides on 17-inch wheels featuring orange accents, with matching orange details incorporated elsewhere in the exterior. A roof rack adds additional utility and can support up to 165 pounds when equipped with crossbars.
The overall design is intended to give the Kicks a more adventurous personality without dramatically changing the crossover’s basic proportions.
More Equipment Inside
The Rock Creek is based on the Kicks SV and adds a range of comfort and convenience features. The cabin includes TailorFit seating with accent stitching, along with ambient lighting, heated seats, heated mirrors, rear air ducts and a surround-view camera.
The combination of standard equipment and additional capability gives the Rock Creek a more premium feel while keeping the model positioned below larger SUVs in Nissan’s lineup.

A Small Crossover With a More Adventurous Mission
At $28,840 before destination charges, the 2027 Kicks Rock Creek sits near the top of the Kicks range while adding features that are not available on the standard models.
Its combination of all-wheel drive, increased ground clearance, Off-Road mode, Hill Descent Control and rugged styling gives Nissan a distinctive offering in the subcompact crossover market.
The Kicks Rock Creek is not intended to replace a serious off-road SUV. Instead, it gives buyers who want a little more capability from their everyday crossover a factory-built option that combines compact dimensions with a more adventurous character.
