Lexus has confirmed that an updated Lexus NX is on the way, releasing a teaser video on social media ahead of the crossover’s official reveal on September 1, Japan Standard Time.

The automaker has yet to say whether the vehicle represents a completely new model or a facelift, but the teaser offers the first official look at several apparent styling changes.

A Familiar Shape With Lexus’ New Design Language

Although Lexus has concealed much of the updated NX with dark and shadowy teaser angles, several details are visible. The headlights appear sharper, while the daytime running lights seem to extend deeper into the fenders.

The changes do not appear to represent a dramatic redesign, but they align with Lexus’ more recent styling direction.

The teaser also highlights a green exterior color that resembles Nori Green Pearl offered on the current NX. Under the studio lighting, however, the shade appears noticeably lighter. It remains unclear whether Lexus is previewing a new color or whether the appearance is the result of the lighting.

At the rear, the silhouette suggests possible changes to the taillights, though Lexus has revealed few specific details. The teaser instead focuses largely on the crossover’s overall proportions and body lines.

Lexus has not yet shown the front of the vehicle. The article suggests it could adopt the newer Spindle Body design language used on the RX and the latest ES.

More Refresh Than Replacement

The Lexus NX remains an important model in the automaker’s lineup. Since the second generation arrived on U.S. roads in 2021, the crossover has been a strong seller, helped by its styling, hybrid options and size.

The current generation debuted in 2021 as a 2022 model-year vehicle, making it about five years old. That timing is somewhat late for a mid-cycle refresh but still early for a complete redesign by Lexus standards.

The side profile visible in the teaser appears largely unchanged from the current NX, retaining the same roofline, window design and overall shape. That points toward a substantial refresh rather than a complete overhaul on a new platform.

A facelift would also bring the NX more closely in line with Lexus’ evolving SUV design language. The NX is among the remaining models associated with the older spindle grille styling.

Lexus Keeps Key Details Under Wraps

Lexus has not disclosed any information about potential changes to powertrains, technology or the interior. Those details remain unknown ahead of the official debut.

The wait will be brief. Lexus is scheduled to unveil the refreshed Lexus NX on September 1, Japan Standard Time, when the full extent of the crossover’s updates will be revealed.
