A rare 2018 Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet, one of only 99 examples produced worldwide, is headed for sale through RM Sotheby’s with an estimated price of more than $694,000 to $810,000.
The ultra-exclusive SUV represented a final special version of the long-running W463 G-Class platform before Mercedes moved to the next generation, combining luxury limousine features with extreme off-road hardware and a powerful V-12 engine.
The Ultimate W463 G-Class Farewell
The W463 G-Class was the first purpose-built luxury off-road version of the iconic G-Class. It followed the more utilitarian W460, which launched in 1979, and remained in continuous use and production from 1990 until 2018.
After a successful 28-year production run, Mercedes decided it was time to introduce the next-generation G-Class. Before ending production of the W463, Mercedes and Maybach developed a final version that became one of the rarest luxury SUVs ever produced.
Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet: Just 99 Built
RM Sotheby’s has listed a 2018 Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet, one of just 99 units manufactured and sold worldwide.
Mercedes extended the wheelbase by more than half a meter, providing the G650 with more rear legroom than the long-wheelbase Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Power came from a 6.0-liter biturbo V-12 supplied by the AMG department, producing 621 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque.
The G650 also received the same portal axles and three locking differentials used on the G500 4×4², giving the SUV its raised and wide stance along with significant off-road capability.
A Distinctive Landaulet Design
Among the G650’s most recognizable features is its Landaulet soft-top rear roof, a tribute to the original open-top G-Wagon. This example features a Beige fabric roof matched with a Beige interior and Designo Mystic White exterior paint.
The SUV is further equipped with the Chrome package, red brake calipers, 22-inch immersion-polished alloy wheels, carbon-fiber-style trim on the outer strips and wheel arches, a side step, and smoked rear glass.
Limousine Luxury Inside
The interior includes reclining, memory and massaging rear seats sourced from an S600 limousine. Most of the cabin is finished in Beige, contrasted by Black Nappa hide and AMG Carbon trim.
A Harman Kardon Logic 7 sound system is also fitted and includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
This particular Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet was ordered and delivered to Belgium in 2017 and has covered only 124 miles.
RM Sotheby’s Sale Estimate Reaches $810,000
Given the rarity and provenance of the G650 Landaulet, RM Sotheby’s estimates that the SUV could sell for more than $694,000 and as much as $810,000.
The 2018 Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet is being offered at no reserve, with the sale scheduled to go live from September 8 through September 16, 2026.
