A potential Hyundai Tucson N could bring the brand’s growing performance ambitions to its best-selling U.S. model, with new renders offering a possible look at how a high-performance version of the next-generation compact crossover might appear.

The model remains only a rumor, but the concept comes as Hyundai plans to expand its N performance lineup to more than seven models by 2030.

Hyundai Expands Its N Performance Lineup

Hyundai’s N performance division has become increasingly prominent through vehicles including the Ioniq 5 N and Elantra N, as well as the brand’s motorsports activities.

By 2030, the Korean automaker plans to grow the N lineup to more than seven models, positioning the division as a more direct challenger to Toyota Gazoo Racing and, among premium brands, BMW M.

With the Hyundai Tucson serving as the brand’s best-selling model in the United States, an N version of the compact crossover could broaden the nameplate’s appeal, particularly among performance enthusiasts. The all-new fifth-generation Tucson is also approaching its launch.

Renders Imagine a More Aggressive Tucson N

Renders from Kolesa offer a possible interpretation of what a performance-focused Tucson N could look like, drawing inspiration from Hyundai’s existing N models.

The design retains the boxy and minimalist styling seen in official reveal photos but adds a more aggressive lower front bumper. The blacked-out section includes a red splitter with end plates that give the crossover a sportier appearance.

The wraparound black trim has been removed, while the roof and side mirrors are finished in black to create a two-tone look.

Red Accents and Twin Exhausts Define the Rear

The rear design makes the performance intent more apparent, featuring a redesigned bumper with red accents and a twin-exhaust configuration.

The styling moves away from the standard model’s minimalist approach, while other details include oversized wheels and red brake calipers.

A Possible 300-Horsepower Hybrid Setup

The report suggested that a Tucson N could combine a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with an electric motor mounted on the rear axle, producing a combined output of around 300 horsepower.

For comparison, the most powerful version of the outgoing Tucson is the Tucson PHEV, which produces 268 horsepower.

Key Details Remain Unknown

Hyundai has not yet released official specifications or pricing for the next-generation Tucson, limiting further speculation about a potential N-badged model.

The automaker is expected to launch the redesigned Tucson in the United States in 2027. If Hyundai ultimately introduces a Tucson N, it would offer something distinct in the compact-crossover segment.

The Toyota RAV4 GR Sport, by comparison, is positioned as a sporty trim rather than a full-fledged GR model featuring extensive performance upgrades.
